:noseg:

They just need little itty-bitty rock stars drinking little itty-bitty beers so that the barbies and teddy bears can attend concerts (wearing masks and keeping socialist distancing, of course)

Back in the 1970's or 1980's my mother spent a bunch on a load of junk from Franklin Mint.
According to her it was all an investment and she would make loads when she sold them.
She lost money on everything she ever sold.

One of the old guys in the retirement home my mom had a hair salon/barber shop in gave her a bunch of the Franklin Mint cars because no one else wanted them and he always saw the pictures of us boys and felt like we were proxy grandchildren.

I still don't know what to do with them, they are too fragile for my girls to play with, and they aren't really collectible to me since they are damaged from moving across country multiple times.

I should just do a Marie Kondo and chuck em in the dumpster...

Franklin Mint? Never heard of them, but now I have (looked it up). Learned something new. I have a couple of 1930's cars on my fireplace mantle that look like that, we got them for a couple of bucks at a garage sale
I've also been wanting a Zimbabwe gazillion dollar note, but the greedy bastages on eBay want too much money!

Just in time for Christmas.

That left-handed quip was a good one.

Boy, that list just keeps on going, doesn't it?

My father used to fall for those Franklin Mint "investment pieces" that were "certain to appreciate in value" too... Or anything that had the words: "limited edition" or "collector's item" slapped on it.

He had quite an assortment of Franklin Mint plates, coins, and various other brick-a-brack that you couldn't unload at a yard sale for a dollar.

I must have missed those. I'm going to keep an eye out for a b-stock...
