I'm gonna play because maybe someone knows who said it.
It wasn't General Schwarzkopf! I have looked and looked for the reference, and for all I know it might have been a junior officer in my unit but I have some wires that are permanently crossed.

I have now spent fifty-five years in resolving; having, from the earliest time almost that I can remember, been forming schemes of a
better life. I have done nothing. The need of doing, therefore, is pressing, since the time of doing is short. O GOD, grant me to resolve aright, and to keep my resolutions, for JESUS CHRIST'S sake. Amen.
-- Dr. Johnson's prayer, in Boswell's _Life_
You've got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down.

"Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We've entered as strangers - soon we have friends. And they come over... and they sit with us... and they drink with us... and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they've done and the big wonderful things they'll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar."

Elwood P. Dowd - Harvey

There's 4 or 5 really good ones in a lot of movies. Clint Eastwood has some great ones. Fight Club, O Brother Where Art Thou, Saving Arizona, Sling Blade etc.

The Schofield Kid: It don't seem real. How he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever. How he's dead. And the other one, too. All on account of pulling a trigger.

William Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

William Munny: We all have it coming, Kid.
