Or at least not old and ugly.
Hopefully pictures playing guitar but any cool old shots qualify. Lets see them.

In retrospect this was probably "peak cool" for me in my lifetime . . .
. . . though at twenty-one I thought I was pretty badass. Funny how when I look at this picture now I just see a guido gigolo.

Never been cool or 'young' until about 20, when a school friend took me to my very first concert... T. Bone Walker, Koko Taylor and Willie Dixon in the temporary auditorium used shorty after the casino's 'Smoke on the Water, in Montreux!
And no, I did not quite realize where these folks stood, only some time later.

No rockstar pictures mr model? On the one hand jealous I never looked that good but will enjoy it as you to eventually get old and ugly. (yes I'm petty:)toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:44 am In retrospect this was probably "peak cool" for me in my lifetime . . .

I remember when young with my friends we would rate girls 1-10 then even rating to the 1st decimal place. Then sometime around 30 we simplified to a simple pass/fail with "I'd do her" or not. By my 40's as we watched so many of us get old we settled on the rating of girls being either pre or post hideous assuming anyone live long enough to hit the inevitable decrepitation.

Just found another old pic with as guitar I barely remember. Also at my grandma's house. Goid thing someone took dome pictures back then. I had a friend of a friend who would tinker and the strip his truss rod. So I bought this lp copy from him. Probably $40 or 60. Only had it a month or so before his parents found out and made him buy it back so I think it was a more expensive model. Shocked there is a picture of it.
Any clue what it can be?

I assume you mean one of those cars in the background. That could very well be a Corvette owned by our next door neighbor. That photo was probably taken around 76 or 77. I remember that neighbor had a side job doing automotive body work in his garage and was what you'd call a "car guy."Houblues wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:15 pmDo I spy two Stingrays in that first picture?toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:44 am In retrospect this was probably "peak cool" for me in my lifetime . . .

My guess would be either Hondo, Memphis, Lotus, or one of the other MIJ variants (or MIK as production began to shift to Korea in the 80s). What's your best estimate of the year this photo was taken?

I'll post a picture later, but the comment about Stingrays in this thread reminds me of an anecdote from my past. My family never had a car when I was growing up, but I was aware that they'd had cars off and on before I was born. One time, when I was in my teens, my mom mentioned that they'd had a Stingray. This sounds unlikely if you know my parents, but... You can imagine the torment in my yearning-to-be-cool teenage soul! I could have had a Stingray! A vintage Stingray! But it was long gone, of course, so there was nothing to be done about it, and I sulked in private, thinking of how I could have had that Stingray.
Years later, the topic of cars came up while I was talking to my mom, and I mentioned the Stingray. She got a confused look on her face, and said, "We never had a Stingray." I don't know whether it was a misunderstanding, or a slip of the tongue or whatever, but no, it was confirmed that the family had never had a Stingray. But now I was even more tormented, because I didn't know how to feel now: I'd spent all those years being bitter, when I NEVER COULD HAVE HAD A STINGRAY!

Maybe 79 to 82ish. Probably a matsumoku of some type. I remember liking it and as far as I could tell was probably a big step up from my teisco tulip. I think even then I had a dislike of the clownburst and even though I liked the playability I didn't come back to any type of lp model for another 35 years.toomanycats wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 4:40 pmMy guess would be either Hondo, Memphis, Lotus, or one of the other MIJ variants (or MIK as production began to shift to Korea in the 80s). Ive been around them my whole life I guess. My dad had a 61 or 62 vette that I was probably conceived in. Later after me his concession to having a "family car" was a 64 vette fastback. They say "Daddycar" was my first word. At 8 or so my mom got a 71 barracuda fast back with a straight pipe for a muffler. So then he could get his 66 convertible vette for $1000. I used to start it up for him every morning for a year to get it warmed up so he could drive to work. It was the first car I ever drove and learned to drive in it. At 14 or so it had a brutal racing clutch with an instant grab. Now at 56 its back to being brutal again. Now my dad is selling that vette for $30k and I just don't know I can swing it or have that much interest. Its the one in my picture right now.glasshand wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 5:18 pm I'll post a picture later, but the comment about Stingrays in this thread reminds me of an anecdote from my past. You need to open the doors. It works pretty well until the 67 when the put the parking brake between the seats. After that it's hard to even get a decent bj
