Damn... looks like the cable guy would be buying a new martin or the cable company.

I can't tell for sure... but would that spot work for a cable jack? Preamp + pickup? (After they reimburse you full value, of course). Or just take the compensation and plug it or even make a sound port. Cable dudes...

Cable gust bought your HD-28V, huh?
Since you are located where you are, he should go to Martin & buy you a new one.

What if it wasn't just a run of the mill Martin? What if It was from a trip to another city with his dad while he was dying of cancer and they both took turns listening and decided that this was the best one. They both never heard anything like it before. Everytime he looks at it he thinks of his dad or whatever. Can't buy a new one of those. What do you charge then? Just wondering what happens in that type of situation?

Why would you let a cable guy drill into a closet without removing your Martin first?

My guess: lawyers get rich, but nothing else is guaranteed

Bet their insurance adjuster insists it's now "reliced" and denies the claim.

Wow. I stopped letting the cable guy inside my house for even diagnostics when, without asking, one cut the end off a $50 cable I had just bought and put in. Your case is so far beyond that I don't know what I would do. But I would not stop until I was satisfied with how they took responsibility. Do not let them call it a reason for a homeowner's insurance claim.

Just to be clear...this isnt me.
I figured it wasn’t you specifically, more a rhetorical question. If I had a beat up Squire or SX in the closet, I would pull it out before letting a cable guy drill into the general area. I can’t imagine leaving a nice guitar for them to drill into.

Yikes, that is not good. Although I just saw a post on LinkedIN from an individual who lost an entire guitar collection and a vintage steinway grand piano when his house burned to the ground in Oregon. He said that he did actually take one guitar with - a D28 martin. That conversation ( which guitar would you grab if you house was about to burn down ) really looks much different now.
