NGD--Too many cats indeed - an ending

I had previously posted that Mrs. PEZ bought me a Bacchus Live Road guitar from Reverb.
The seller wanted to remove the pickups before shipping and he couldn't find the original pups so he canceled the sale.
All in...that price was $852 including tax/shipping...

There was one more for sale so Mrs. PEZ put in an offer and it was accepted. All in..the final price was $1017......:sunglasses:

https://reverb.com/item/19499110-2014-b ... l-les-paul

The guitar arrived in a Bacchus gig bag. It was missing the Bacchus warranty card and truss rod wrench.
And it's not the cleanest guitar I've ever handled...
In fact....I'm am 99.99999% sure that it has been peed on:rage::rage::rage:
I took the pick guard cover off and it was wet underneath. I smelled it and was like....noooooo...that "can't" be what I think it is....
Took it up to my son and asked him to smell it...
He said....yeah it smells weird..
I said...Like cat piss?
He shakes his head yes....
UGGHHHHH
After washing my hands thoroughly, I then smelled the wood under the pick guard and yep....it smells.
I cleaned it with some Lemon scented cleaner and it still fuxing smells...

So...AGF...what do I do about that??

After much go around....I was refunded $185.

I really dont expect to see the card and/or truss rod...
He claims its at his mom's place and he cant get it because of CoVid..
Yet he sees his dad every day...

I WAS able to get the smell out of the guitar
And it plays super nice....at least for my clunky paws...

I think the bag will be ok...I need to give it another go around....
But..yeah...guitar is all good and I really dont think about how it arrived when I pick it up to play.

I mainly think....I suck too much to deserve this nice/expensive of a guitar

white vinegar diluted with water? dabbed lightly in the affected areas as to not damage the wood..

maybe an enzyme cleaner like nature's miracle? again i'm not sure the extent to which you can damage the wood. dilution, light dabbing and wiping dry would be my approach

hopefully someone else here can illuminate further

*edit - just saw you got rid of the smell. Cool!

Glad you got it sorted.

How did you finally get the smell out? Multiple applications of the lemon scented cleaner or something else?

Cat pee, and meth. Same smell.

Used a combo of Nature's miracle and white vinegar and open air...
It seems like it has a nice application of clear coat...so no damage to wood....

Dang It's purty. More to the point glad you got the smell out and money back, that's the big part. Shame about the card and wrench but sounds like he's a dick given the way he did the first one.

That's damned nice, as long as the smell doesn't linger.
