South Florida may take the cake for being fuckups on just about everything, but they have this vaccination business figured out. It was drive up and I think the whole process lasted about 45 minutes.
Is that true much at all anymore? Had zero election problems and had the count that night. Had the minimal impact to all the poor small business owners while keeping the death count in check and his economy alive. Ignored the idiocy of early vax rollout and got the shot to all the oldsters 1st and fastest.
Is there a place you'd rather be? Aside from the humidity I'd be interested in trading you for CA if I could.

I wasn't referencing Desantis, I was referencing South Florida which which has more than our fair share of fuckups.

Second dose today!

MA is now at 30% fully vaccinated. Local doctor answering questions on local channel said the 50% threshold should dramatically drop infection rate.

I think AZ is 38% though I don't know if that is single dose or 2 doses.
Mrs10t had her 2nd about 10 days ago and had reaction (same as mine) that was exagerated due to MS. I had my 2nd dose last Thurs (4/15). Forty hours of headache, body and muscle ache, chills (I live in AZ wearing a coat inside with afghan, floor heater, and heating pad on). My eyes felt like shriveling raisins. Still a little dry eye, minor headache and brain fog. If I hadn't had 2 days of leftovers in the fridge, we wouldn't have eaten. Worth it to me and if we have to have a booster, okay.
and, and...! I have had an Army, overseas, war zone, and working in medical field amount of vaccines in my life, this one was the worst I remember. Also the most recent, so...

Rhode Island finally opened it up for all adults this week. I don't know what our overall vaccination rate is but I know I'm halfway there!

We crossed 50% with at least one dose. We have hit the threshold where most people who want it have gotten it. Appointments are now suddenly easy to get, doses are going unused. Most appointments for last week were made 3-4 weeks in advance, but there are currently spots available for tomorrow if you sign up now. That’s a shockingly fast drop in demand.

There's a lot of factors in play - some people want it but cant afford it/don't have insurance/etc. Some people gave up on getting an appointment as the demand was so high and you'll see a rebound/rubberband effect in coming weeks as the availability opens up. The health network I work for has multiple onsite vaccination clinics and 3 mobile ones, and around here at least there is still a lot of demand. Opening it up to younger age groups will also increase demand, some states have not fully done so.

But yes, there is a sizeable part of the population that won't want/get it for whatever reason.

Scott? What are you talking about? I don't know anyone who has had to pay (or have insurance) to get vaccinated.
Here in Floriduh at any rate, your local health department does it all for free. So does PUBLIX, CVS, etc.

My employer paid for mine, but my wife and son both had to provide proof of insurance when they went.

The way i understand it, technically, the vaccine is free, administrating it is not, but how much would that cost, given that it is done wholesale?

And yes, one has to enter insurance information. where does it go, who knows.

My vaccine was sponsored by county Board of Health, with local hospital partners, all willing to do some work not to have ICU beds all filled, I am sure.

A good friend is a retired RN who is volunteering giving the shots for free.
I never had to show any proof of insurance for either shot?

Of course, 99% of Floriduh is covered by Medicare. :D

Something isn't right. Yes your PCP can bill your insurance for administration cost but that is a little.....something.
Like paying $12 for a quart of milk at a convenient store instead of going to a grocery store.
They probably should have gone to the local health dept and it would have cost nothing (from a purse or wallet (we have been and will continue to pay for things like this for years).)

No.
Never heard about that.

BTW, my nurse suggested I took a photo as record of the card before putting it away in a safe place.

I ran mine thru a copier and sealed the copy in plastic! :)

They are asking for insurance for tracking purposes. The doses were all paid for by the federal government and states and feds are picking up the distribution and administration costs. No one has to pay.

Perhaps that is why so many people from Alabama are coming down here for the vaccine?
They are afraid of being tracked in Alabama if they get vaccinated?

It doesn’t matter where you go to get the shot, the Bill Gates nano chips are part of all doses of all available vaccines.

FWIW, I just got my second Moderna shot. It was at the instore pharmacy of the local Publix supermarket by me. I had no negative reaction to the first shot but thought just in case, I would stock up on items that I know in the past have helped me through other heath crisis:

In a somewhat ironic twist of fate we just got our bi-weekly "status" update about our vaccination progress and covid stats, and we do indeed have a sudden surplus of appointments for next week. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here, I personally know a good number of people that don't plan on getting it for various reasons. Bars and restaurants have been basically "back to normal" here for months now with zero masking/social distancing/etc , and a lot of restaurants have been too so I think a lot of people just don't care anymore to be honest.

I ran into an odd thing: The NYT shows my MA county with a 3% full vac. rate , which is absurd, while the state own data reads 37% , what t feels on the ground.
I checked and it turns out the CDC data is 3%.
Something is wrong with the methodology, or actual definitions of terms?

Contacted the NYT as well as my state agency, pointing out that there should be a footnote somewhere, clarifying the possibilty of such discrepancy.

Got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine last Friday. Wife and I registered on the vaccinate VA site at the end of March. She got an appointment for her first shot within a few days. She gets her 2nd today. FEMA set up a big vaccination site at a local mall and was administering several thousand a day. They've been taking walkups for the last two weeks or so. I'd been using findashot.org to check daily for appt. times and finally snagged one at a nearby rite aid last week. No side effects other than a little soreness the next day where the needle went in. My 2nd is scheduled for 5/7.

Got an alert on my phone yesterday that eligibility is open now to everyone 16+

Down here we have the option to provide our insurance but it is not required. When you fill out the form online, the boxes are there but the don't have the '*' next to them indicating that it is required. I left it blank on my form. And then when you show up to the site you have to fill out the paperwork all over again(because Florida) and again there is a place to fill in your insurance information, but again I left it blank. Still got the shot anyway.

It was the same for Covid testing. The first time I got tested I put my insurance info in, and then found out it wasn't required. The second time I got tested I didn't fill it in and they still gave me the test.

Maybe the reason we aren't paying down here is because we are getting the Chibson Fyyzure vaccine....
