I Can't Believe This Is What Brought The Mighty and Legendary AGF Down

They have the comments turned off on their youtube vids too. Can't imagine why....

100%! Please adjust and don’t go, commonalities are also a good thingBeliever wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:28 pmTMC, you nailed it! The folks on AGF are like family. We have our disagreements (I'm a very conservative person and some of us are very liberal) but they are generally respectful disagreements, and more times than not, we concentrate on those things that we CAN agree on. AGF is probably the only site that I browsed every day. I'm finding it a little difficult to adjust to this board, but I'll manage; too many good people here to let y'all go!toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:50 pmI'm glad we're here now too, but I'll tell you why I took it personally.
AGF was more than just a guitar forum to me. For five years I used it as a place to "think out loud," to write about all kinds of things tangentially related to guitar, including music, culture, bands, genres, personalities of famous musicians, and so on. I posted many long detailed reviews of guitars, amps, and pedals, with pictures, and almost always with sound demos. Those demos are linked to my soundcloud and YouTube accounts. I frequently posted long philosophic soliloquies on any number of subjects, and also wrote about deeply personal events in my life.
Many others here spent equivalent energy contributing the content that made that old forum special. For God's sake, there are posts on the old forum about people's loved one's dying, children fighting cancer, marriages, divorces, children being born . . . the whole rich tapestry of life.
Those MOMO assholes aren't just some people that bought a forum. They're barbarians, cretins, enemies of culture! They burnt down a museum, desecrated a graveyard and memorial, torched a library and school! That's how I feel about them.
So for anyone to say, "It's just a guitar forum," or, "As long as we have the people," those are my objections. It isn't just a guitar forum to me and losing our history and content troubles me tremendously.
Not directing this at you personally @Mickey, as I know what AGF means to you . . . just publicly venting some righteous indignation.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed the David Gilmoure or whatever he called it. That is a meme that always gets a chuckle from me. Dave Gilmomo is probably the best

In the first introductory email I received from momo/dan f he listed several musicians he was really into and his saying "Dave Gilmore" was one of them immediately sent up red warning flags for me.

Just my luck I'm gone a few days and one of the best threads I have ever read gets started.
Anyway I think the MooMoo Crew thought as many people believe that a bunch of musicians and guitar players in particular are just a bunch of stoned Dumba@#$% and would just blindly play follow the leader to wherever they wanted. That really pissed me off I've dealt with a lot of club owners over the years that thought the same way and they ended up in the trash can as well. I felt like a newbie and didn't say much when it first happened because I wanted to see where it went. I had joined other forums that I didn't care much for and didn't hang around much but this group was different and when I saw the revolt going down I knew I was in the right place because this group wasn't going to rollover and play dead something that the MooMoo Crew hadn't counted on because again they underestimated us because we were just stupid guitar players. I hope they lost a ton of money because they deserved to for their stupidity. Now we have our community with a guitarist and purveyor of related accessories at the helm and guitar knuts as mods that are all active participants of this forum. They have a board that relates more to two year old kids than road worn, seasoned musicians.
Another great benefit is I'm not a newbie anymore because I came on board the first day this new home was created.

What goes on between two consenting adult animes is really none of our business. However, if that's a minor anime, well, an entirely different story...LightWingStudios wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 12:39 pmLooks like that little guy is into intermittent Golden Showers. LOL!

Straight up, I couldn't tell you what the correct spelling is now. @rocdog @mindwave @gfurman are at the old site the last few days. Did they get a new id here. Anyone got a way to reach them? i see mkgearhead made it over
@rokdog is here, the other two no and a Google search for their usernames turns up nothing. If anyone knows them from other forums or has had PM conversations with them in the past either through the old AGF or another forum, I'd suggest replying to a previous PM(if AGF) or sending them a new one through the other forum's system...

I think we all took it personally on one level, but I, for one, felt like I was defending OUR HOME, and said as much in several of my caustic posts directed at Minor Tom and Dan F. And I didn't ever feel like I was alone in that...mickey wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:06 pmMethinks they cluster fucked themselves.Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:02 pm
I would have honored to die a valiant death fighting the Tele Tubbies as they rode in on their purple dinosaur steeds. Momo board just a clusterf$%&
The most amazing thing to me is how EVERYONE HERE seemed to take it personally.
Nobody seemed to take it as "they screwed the forum."
Instead everyone took it as "they tried to screw ME!"
Bottom line = that is how/why we got here!
I'm glad, dunno about you?
One of the things that impressed me so much with you guys was that when this all happened, we responded as a unified front, with more or less a single voice, and we never descended into in-fighting and arguing amongst ourselves (which is common in stressful situations like this). I think if everyone was only in it for themselves, or taking it solely on a personal level, there would have been a lot more bickering, and scattering of members.
From my perspective, we all pulled together as a team... As a family.
Finally escaping the People's Republic of Kalifornia!
