The side effects are simply your immune system learning to attack a foreign substance. There is going to be a lot of variation from person to person, in part due to prior exposure to the virus, as well as other health factors. They are fully expected and understood, so not of any big interest. Serious but extremely rare side effects are different, and they want to catch any patterns so they can predict who might be at risk and learn how to treat the problem.

Yeah i know what causes the side effects, but i am asking why do they not care what happens to you unless it is extreme? If certain lots make you lose your voice wouldn't that info be helpful? I think they don't actually care. What if in the future these people lose their voice again but permanently, then they would be scrambling to deny their vaccine caused it. Read up on the bad history of vaccines, polio, narcolepsy. Many things are pulled off the market hush hush. I would think especially since it is only approved for emergency use they would want all the data they can get. I have asbestos pipe insulation on all my steam heating pipes here. It is the best you can buy. Oh wait.

@mozz the house I grew up in had the best insulation possible, asbestos covered all the outside walls.
As kids we played with the left over waste asbestos insulation!

I think it is the single good thing our governor has done since he has been in office (the way he has handled covid-19 vaccinations.)
Hes 1 good thing ahead of all the other governors then.
I'll trade you Northam anyday for DeSantis.
I'll trade you 10 ca Newsoms for 1 DeSantis

Just about to head out for my first shot, and spouse did hers yesterday.

Before she went in, I reminded her about the hundreds of thousands that did not get a chance to reach this point, as we lost them before their time. She mentioned it to the nurse and got a bit emotional about it.

It does feel like a sort of turning point, combined with the sunny and warmer weather coming, here, with rumors of outdoor music been considered safe again.

Had the virus in January and got my first shot on 3/20. Only side effects was sore arm. Since I have had the Rona in the past my 1st shot is like everyone's 2nd shot that didn't have the Rona.. and my Anti-bodies were 20-30x that of those who have had their 2nd shot. Hopefully my 2nd shot doesn't kick my ass.

My C-19 was very mild lost my taste smell for 3 days with no other symptoms.

I've been trying to get signed up for several months locally with no luck, Finally drove to Prescott and got my first one on the 14th "Moderna" and have scheduled the second. I just don't understand the anti vac thinking that so many people now have. Hopefully enough of them will wise up and get one so that we finally reach herd immunity and this can be over. My son in laws mother uses crutches due to having polio as a child which was a serious threat in the 50's. I still remember mom taking us all down to Mesa Az to get our sugar cube which had the vaccination in it, as a consequence I never had worry about it.

I have been fully vaccinated for a little over two weeks now. I do work in the Home Health field, so I was able to get mine a little before others in my age group. As of this week,Texas has now opened vaccine availability to everyone over the age of 16.

My first Moderna shot went by without a hitch. The second one packed a punch. I had and extremely sore arm, and flu-like symptoms for about a day and a half. I did not feel back to 100% for about a week.

I got my second Pfizer 6 weeks ago (I’m 73). My wife (60) got both hers (also Pfizer) in December and early January. She is a nurse at the hospital I retired from. She volunteered to work the COVID unit when this began last spring and is still doing so working 12 hour shifts. Neither of us had any (even minor) side effects from the vaccines either time.

BTW, anyone on the fence about or thinking of not getting the vaccine should spend a couple days working with her and see first hand how really bad this virus can be and what a horrible way it is to die. She thinks that would change their minds.

Flatline wrote: Fri Mar 26, 2021 3:25 pm I'm scheduled for my first shot next week. Availability opens to anyone 16 and older next week here. Being under 40, I never qualified for the age based tiers and although I work at a university, I don't qualify as a teacher or first responder. My wife works in K-12, so she was able to get her first dose last week and scheduled for her second. Surprisingly, Indiana has done pretty decent with the rollout. Better than anyone expected, as they'll usually find a way to screw things up.
I also live in Indiana and from what I hear from people from other states I think Indiana’s central statewide scheduling system was great and well organized. As good or better than most states. Maybe one of the best actually.

Just received my first Pfizer shot this afternoon.

Then I received 2 Allparts SRO-62 necks, and 3 sets of tuners from UPS. Oh yeah.

Got both my Pfizer shots through the VA at the end of February and middle of March. No side effects at all. Not too many getting the shot in Alabama but a very strong turn-out by veterans. I guess that we are used to getting shit pumped in to us all of these years.

Ok, just got the first of my Pfizer shots. The shot didn't hurt, but I felt the vaccine form a little bubble inside my arm, a bit weird.

Got the first Pfizer shot just now. I wasn't eligible, but my wife was. Tagged along, and she was last in line. She asked if they had any left, and can they get me in instead of throwing them away. Got a yes, and they rushed to get me registered and get my shot.

It was about a 3 hour process start to finish though.

I agree, if only people realized the medical and financial devastation that comes with a serious case of covid, even without death. Alas, it’s a whole lot of re-education and attention required of people who are on the opposite end just way to skeptical of what they’re being told. It’s admittedly even hard for some of those who work in healthcare to fully grasp.

Anyways I got my first dose of Moderna

I have several friends/relatives who work in healthcare & not one of them can believe any sane person is refusing to be vaccinated.

Is anyone here NOT wanting to get a vaccine?
I found out the Firedept/ paramedics are very antivax. All the guys in the field are young and healthy and they are a main contact for administering yet most wont get it. Most assume they got infected in the first month. They also won't get the flu vax typically. And not just our city but the 3 or 4 associated cities FD too. They administered my test while I was still snotted up from my cold. I had an earlier 1 hr test that said I was clear but it could have been wrong and the FD had to do an official one to clear me for work. I thought that was interesting.
I got the johnson one a few weeks ago. No probs. I think I feel a little better about getting that one than the newer rna types. My small work group all vaxed so we just had our first dept meeting without masks YAY! Before that I had my first cold in a year. Real ass kicker but just a cold. I really am not that careful about things and been working every day last year. It's no surprise and my guess is I got a few small doses of covid and sailed through without noticing.
I'm in a small church group and it blasted through them, all compromised, all 60+ years old and none really felt it.
A coupe got it later and it was pretty miserable feeling so kaiser called them down for an experimental treatment. 10 min into a 1 hr IV and they felt great. Sounds like an AMAZING treatment. WHY ISNT THIS EVERYWHERE?
Was at a garden party recently, mostly oldsters, and I noticed we were all in the grass 6 to 10 ft apart, masks off eating and drinking except 1 or 2. So I asked how many were vaxed and everyone over 50 raised their hand The couple in the 30s were not wearing masks. So I asked if all us at big risk got the vax why don't we all skip the masks? Everyone nods except 2 people 2 people that immediately starts off with "but we don't know" and "Variations" and "possibly carriers". So everyone stops eating and drinking and puts on the masks and we spend an hour with the speaker and us all saying "WHAT?" and "Could you repeat that?" It seems the most anti vax out here are the ones who get a vaccine but then refuse to believe it actually does anything? WTF is that?
My brother works in hollywood and he says the hysteria amongst them is insane. He hasn't been to a small family thing all year. He has the hollywood pressure of "don't be the ONE to shut down production." If anyone saw the tom cruise rant to his crew awhile back thats everywhere. He works in LA but comes home to his family on Weekends in San diego. Tons of pressure to not even do that. And to top it off not only do they do maniacal covid testing but only at their approved test tite?!?!?!? He had just drove down to SD when they popped up with a surprise test and he had to immediately drive back to LA for a test because just any test wasn't good enough. When he gets there its some podunk holistic health clinic . But CVS or Kaiser or county health isn't good enough for them?
He got his vax early by volunteering to administer the shot. He said he was meeting 25 yr olds that were afraid to get within 12 ft of anybody with the masks including him who was vaccinated. They had a ptsd like hes never heard of. They hadn't been near another person in a yr. They wouldn't get close enough to communicate through a mask. It was like 1 out of 10 or so. Imagine if we really had something that did kill 10% of the population. But then again thats what these people were believing it seems while stuck at home watching CNN 24/7 for a year.

The crazy thing with COVID is all the paranoia didn’t* even work! The areas which had the most restrictions and highest amount of paranoid behavior didn’t fare any better and often worse than other areas where government and people took it “less seriously”.

*It actually worked really well on influenza which relies on larger droplets to spread vs COVID which can spread as a fine aerosol that goes right through and around masks and lingers in the air longer. We had virtually no flu season even when COVID was spreading like wildfire. Don’t hold your breath for the lying bastard Fauci to ever admit that publicly.

The wife and I got our first dose on Saturday. I was tired in the afternoon, but it may have been the full belly and a couple beers for lunch. Sore arm on Sunday but that is it. I have heard for the 2nd shot to double up on Vitamin D intake 2 days prior to lessen the effects, but not sure of the validity of that.

South Florida may take the cake for being fuckups on just about everything, but they have this vaccination business figured out. It was drive up and I think the whole process lasted about 45 minutes.
