I've been moving into a new place and I do a lot of lurking these days anyway lol. Last landlord gave me 5 days to get out before eviction from where I had covid last month and couldn't work to make money to to pay him, I found a new place, definite upgrade all around. Still trying to figure out the best way to optimize the studio apartment but it's really nice regardless, so fuck the old landlord this ended up heavily in my favor lmao.

Maybe some pics about styles or types of guitars and amps? I guess when the old board evaporated a big chunk of who we were went with that.redman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 11:34 am I usually take a look at new post first and lately very little content to check out. This morning I looked and just 1 post Buddha listed some pups for sale. When there are a few post displayed not much about gear, or road stories, or gigs or even practice seems to me there're more post about other things. I use to be excited about seeing what everyone was doing music wise and a lot about guitars and gear and musicians. Now it seems to me it's becoming more a platform for rants about things that don't interest me. For awhile I thought it was everyone getting over the momo invasion but now I think we're down to just a handful of folks that are hanging on. I know this may not be popular but IMO if it doesn't change we're done. If I counted right 261 people have signed up that's not many for a forum but out of those a goodly amount have never posted or just 1 or 2 post.I have no idea how to do this but we need to recruit new blood maybe if we take a few minutes each day to post with pictures about guitars, bands gigs anything that has to do with music and others will find us and see us as a place they would like to join and participate. Anyway I hope I didn't make anyone angry.

All the politics out there really burned me out. Got a few friends together to play a bit recently but so tired and in such a funk just barely could get into it. Felt mostly by wrote. The really good singer dropped out of my project 2 months ago. But the upside is my voice is getting a killer workout and just the last few days been working on voice tone and weak spots and why my voice does such stupid things.
I'm very happy that my sons friend recently wanted to get back into drumming so I used that to leverage my son into coming over w him to play bass who also didnt play for this whole ccpv. So that was great and maybe we can make it a regular thing. The slow down was what I worried about would happen. W or wout the virus. I push for agile people on facebook to check in but that's not alot of traffic either.

I had a bit of a scare regarding my hearing over the last 10 days. Everything turned out to be fine (or at least no worse than usual), but in the interim, I wasn't in much of a mood to discuss guitars and music until I saw a doctor and got things sorted out.
If it's any consolation, I've noticed that activity has dropped off on other forums as well over the last few months. I've thought about this a lot regarding this forum, and I'm just as guilty as anybody else. Fresh content is what drives search engine ranking, and ultimately more traffic to the forum, and I've had no lack of ideas for new threads, I just haven't had the gumption to post them yet. Likewise, I've fallen into the habit of leaving a "like" or a "reaction" (to use the forum nomenclature), rather than posting a comment.
We just have to avoid getting demoralized and pick up the level of chatter/new threads here, even if it seems banal, or frivolous at the time. I'm willing to put a little extra time into content generation to pick things up. Even if you can't think of anything new to talk about, I'm sure we all come across points of interest out on the webs that could be posted here. I know I come across stuff all the time and think: "Hmmm.. I should share this on AGF", but end up never getting around to it, and/or forgetting about it.

Man, sorry to hear about your eviction. I'm glad everything worked out better for you, though. Where I live, evictions aren't allowed during lock-down... But that's California.LancerTheGreat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:35 am I've been moving into a new place and I do a lot of lurking these days anyway lol. At least I think that's still the case... Gratefully, Covid hasn't interrupted my employment, so I haven't had to worry about my income. In fact, we've been busier than ever since last April.

They made it a bit more of a hassle here in Kentucky, and I could've filed the moratorium paperwork, but I don't like staying where I'm not wanted so I solved my problem and it cost less than catching up rent on the old place.Mossman wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 3:44 pm Man, sorry to hear about your eviction. I'm trying to decide on some hangers for my guitars, I need 3, I've seen some string swing 3-packs, but I've never messed with those, wish I had picked up some of the GuitarGrip hangers a few years back when they were like $85 at the most, and around $35 for the more basic hands.

I've been busy with the markets. Forex trading starts Sunday 5:00pm EST and goes non-stop until 5pm EST the following Friday. I've also been getting my feet wet in the equity/ETF options market as well. Add the usual stuff that needs to be done around a house and that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for anything else.
I've still got an eye on you guys though...

I'm a science teacher. It has been challenging for us. We were not prepared to do remote teaching. Our period times were shortened. And... how do you teach science with experiments in a remote setting? So, I record experiments and make lesson plans while grading papers for around 90 kids on a daily basis. Plus, deal with irate parents of failing students who are watching tv or playing on a device while in remote class. I don't have time to play guitar anymore. Then, I have to supervise my own kids too.
It jas been tough.

My mom just came home today from heart bypass/valve surgery. She is overweight, diabetic, and over 70 so it was a little touch and go for a while, and obviously COVID-19 is a major concern for her.
I hope to get playing a little more soon, and posting some more videos of my solo acoustic performances as I try to improve my singing and singing while playing. I've found it damn near impossible to find normal, dependable people to play with who share my taste, skill level, and dedication (which isn't extreme, but if I'm gonna do a thing, I want to get better at it!), so I've decided to focus on my solo playing, especially while we're trying to avoid unnecessary contact with the other humans.

Got a bit of spark the last few days. Lots of singing and some playing. Walking around my few blocks I hike up a big hill playing my martin backpacker and singing. Great for breath excersise. I was working on revolution at midnight and all tired and I was missing notes so bad me and my wife were just cracking up at how horrible it was.

I am here. Posting less than I was on the old site, manly due to being unemployed. I used to use AGF as my destress work break. Now, I sleep later and work on projects, read books, etc. I probably went from 10 times a day on AGF, to twice.

Best of luck on the employment side of things Andrew. I went through the whole "covid related" layoff thing last July and it was not pleasant. I will have to say that looking back it did make me re-evaluate my career goals and get outside the box I had been in, so in that sense something good did come from it.andrewsrea wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 4:49 pm I am here. I appreciate your thoughts and all is fine with me. I have been out of debt and saving aggressively for a 2022 retirement for a couple years, so I am okay living off of savings and unemployment. Still looking for the net gig, but not getting ground-down that there hasn't been any hopeful prospects since July 2020.uwmcscott wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:22 pmBest of luck on the employment side of things Andrew. Yeah, I thought my right ear drum had collapsed, or something. You know how your ears get blocked up when you ascend or descend in altitude? My right ear felt like that all the time, and there was no amount of yawning, or chewing, or swallowing that would "pop" it. In the morning it would be fine, but as soon as I burped, or sneezed, or blew my nose, I'd get pressure in that ear, and it would stay like that all day. It didn't seem to affect my hearing, but the feeling of pressure, and the hollow sound in my head whenever I ate something was pretty unnerving. Also, I've had tinnitus since 2006, and it seemed like it had gotten louder over the past few months.LancerTheGreat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 9:20 pm Hope you got your ears/hearing lined out though man!
It turns out it was just wax build-up. The doctor said there was a big blob of wax putting pressure on the ear drum (and my left ear was actually worse than my right ear). So they irrigated my ears and cleared out all the wax. That didn't lessen the tinnitus, though, so I talked to my chiropractor, who also does acupuncture, and I'm going to give that a try. I have a date with the needles tomorrow.

Thanks - sounds like you are in a good place too. My perspective at the time was probably not so great, but I got over it I was never technically unemployed as I accepted a consulting/contract role prior to my last day at my old job, and then I recently was offered a full-time/permanent role with the entity I was contracted to. It allows me to work from home most of the time, and it's in an entirely new vertical ( healthcare ) than I've ever been in so i'm learning a lot. I am also completing my MBA this spring which will hopefully open a few more doors, I still have probably at least 10 years before retirement is even a consideration, so I am seeking a position I can grow with.andrewsrea wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:56 pm Sounds like you have a great perspective and I hope you land a job that makes you feel good!
