Not even close. I thought about making a resolution to at least play a different one every day but giving myself the weekends off, that would take almost all of 2021...

I was in the Admin role on 1/2 and 1/6.

Been pretty busy since after Xmas as the wife is back from Europe where she was for over a month taking care of her two elderly parents that had contracted Pneumonia and had been released from the hospital. Me and our dog "Buddy" spent Xmas together while she was there as I had basically shutdown the bizniz during that time. Gave me a chance to get back into my Studio and putz around with a boatload of VIs I purchased which were on year end sale.

On 1/2, my AGF "Contact" email was full with over 100 SPAM emails from Russian "Script Kiddies" who used the "CONTACT" webpage to flood it with Porn Emails. I banned over 50 IP addresses and disabled the "CONTACT" webpage which has put an end to that "loophole".

On 1/6, I posted about the Gibson / Mesa merger without realizing someone had already started a thread on that topic. I subsequently deleted my post as the other had significant responses and mine would have just been a "Dupe".

As far as I can tell since 1/1 the Moderator Logs show no significant activity one way or another other than 5 posts Deleted by their authors.

Thanks for jumping in AGF team. With all that being said, the weirdness still exists. I know that I didn’t delete any of my posts.

Maybe I’ll try again and see what happens.

Another one that dissappeared was Mickey's thread that had "lizard people" in the subject. I had posted a couple of replies regarding his trip to get the vaccine - it appears the thread went away sometime on the late afternoon of 1/6/21. I PM'ed Micky asking if he had deleted the thread shortly after i posted as it was suddently gone ( the whole thread ). There was nothing political, gun, or any other offensive type of material in any of the posts that I can remember. .

I’ll take a look at the database, this is pretty concerning if the mod and admin team have not removed them!!

@LightWingStudios , is it possible to get the hosts to check firewalls for any breaches please? 👍🏻

Never received the PM, the only thing I could find from you that was gun related was this one started in November that is still accessible:

EDIT: OK, I found it and will monitor:

Just tried again. Yes, that is the only thread that didn't get removed strangely enough.
Thank you.

While it's sort of on topic, the only reason why I'd be against gun threads on this site is that I don't want it to somehow end up having the site be classified as a "gun site" by internet filters. While I WFH, it's not a big deal, but I do like to check the site on my lunch breaks at work and don't want the site blocked because it's classified as weapons content. I already run into that because some of my customers touch that industry and I'm sure I'm already on some sort of list with IT :D

Do I think that a couple posts will do that? Hopefully not, but I don't know exactly how those filters work. I think parts of the site aren't visible to the public, so that may prevent it at all. Just wanted to share my two cents, though. While it is a guitar site, I value that we have become a community that reaches beyond our love of guitars, so I don't mind it in principle.
If I had something witty to say, I'd put it here.

I understand your concern and I do believe that there is a way to exclude certain forum sections from the search engines (I know this to be true for the forum software the old site was using, not sure about this one though).

Also, if anyone else finds a thread or post of theirs has disappeared without explanation, feel free to PM me here or email me at tobijohn@yahoo.com and I'll look into it, thanks...

toomanycats wrote: Sat Jan 09, 2021 10:14 am I'm not making a political statement; nor would I want to, as per the terms of this forum, and because of my own desire to not engage in such discussions. What I'm going to say is merely my observations on our culture. I would like you to think about whether or not, or for how long this forum can exist, as a "pocket dimension" inside the broader culture. I see a problem with that, and here's why.

I believe that given the state of society at this moment, and the trajectory it is on with increasing acceleration, there will soon be nothing that is not politicized. Think about it. Mathematics has already become politicized. The weather has become politicized. Medicine is politicized. In light of this, does anyone really think that music, and by extension guitar, can remain un-politicized in such an environment?

For you guys my age who were young in the 80s and remember this film, politics is like "The Nothing" in The Neverending Story. I guess that means that AGF is like Fantasia, a fantasy world with no boundaries, made up of our hopes and dreams, because that's kinda what music is, isn't it? Are the borders of our "Fantasia" being devoured by "The Nothing" of politics? Is what happened to @Spike's post an indication of this? I don't know, but it's food for thought.

I have said the following before in private, and I will say it now openly here on this forum, that I suspect I will live to see a time when it will be against the law for me to play and perform the music I love. Sounds crazy? Wait and see. The insanity of politics is going to eat our culture alive. I'm just a guy who wants to play music.

End of non political statement.

It must be the Lizard people using 5G technology sucking up forum threads.
