'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman"glasshand wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 3:00 pm It has a triple meaning. I used to do a lot of photography, back when I first registered, and "glass" is slang for camera lenses. But it can also refer to vacuum tubes, as in amplifiers. AND the Outer Limits episode "Demon With a Glass Hand" was written by Harlan Ellison, one of my favorite authors.
I had wondered about your name now and then.

I know we did it on the old board. I don't recall it here before. However, that doesn't mean it didn't happen.PoodlesAgain wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:36 pm Back in the 90s a fellow on a motorcycle list had a sig file that read: "When poodles roamed the Earth", and I just liked it (without knowing the actual literary reference) , so I adopted "Poodles" and variations.
I could swear we had same subject going not long ago, or am I time-traveling?
Doc... where is Marty??
Apparently the editor really wanted to cut the title to just "Repent, Harlequin!", feeling that the original was too long and weird, but Ellison insisted, and I think time proved him right.fullonshred wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:31 pm 'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman"

And you never know, my name could have been George Leo Asshand.

Ellison was absolutely right. As soon as I saw the title I was hooked and had to read it. LOL at your coulda-been name!glasshand wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:44 pmApparently the editor really wanted to cut the title to just "Repent, Harlequin!", feeling that the original was too long and weird, but Ellison insisted, and I think time proved him right.fullonshred wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:31 pm 'Repent, Harlequin!' I stole the Full On from a guitarist named Toshi Iseda's album "Full On". I added the "Shred" because I love shred guitar.
If you like Instrumetal Shred Guitar I suggest checking out Toshi's "Full On" album if you never have.
Custer's Last Groove is one of my favorite cuts from that one.

My guitar hero, Mark Morton, (Lamb of God). Reason I picked up the electric guitar in the first place, back in my college years.

I'm named after an artist formerly known as Tonray. I don't have my own androgenous symbol though...or even own any purple pants

Well, I'm a Christian who teaches high school history. In the early days Christians were known as "believers". Just a way to share a little faith...
Spike is a nickname I was dubbed with in my first band back when I was about 13. 3/4s of us still get together and jam and we still refer to each other by our nicknames.
