Very cool! I good friend of mine loves the Philippines. He spends a lot of time there and soon he will retire and move there. He actually has released a couple of songs that are being played all over in the bars there. Both are Philippines related tunes. We have been co-workers and bandmates over the years. He sat in with me last Friday night at my acoustic gig and was face timing his lady friend over there during the gig. He says there is an unbelievable amount of talent there playing in the bars. He absolutely loves it there.

Yes, I have a friend here in Bangkok, originally from Texas and he often makes several month long jaunts over there. He seems to like it although he says Thailand is quite a bit safer and you really need to be careful in some places over there.

Reminds me of Cole Clark and the Quarantine Kids from here in our area.

Speaking of Filipino family bands, Sky Church was a trio composed of brothers. However,at the time of the video below, the guitarist brother became a doctor (I think) and was replaced. I have been seeing them play since they were teenagers back in the 90s.

I know a lot of Filipino bands because my wife is Filipina. They've definitely got some good music. As for safety, it's like any country in that it depends on where you go. I'm sure you'll find people swearing up and down that the major city I live near is probably more dangerous than many places in the Philippines. I may live there in the future. I was certainly considering retiring early to SE Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines) when I lived in the Middle East and even in my first few tech jobs here in the US. Now that I'm in cyber and making Sr level salary making an impact on security and privacy of products my company offers whatever struggles I have at work at least seem meaningful so I'll likely stay in the game for a while longer. I'd actually be willing to take a lower paying job at some point if I could work out of a country in SE Asia.

A song about sleeping:

This is one of my favorites. I kind of want to do a pop punk cover. Make it faster, but there a few words I'd trip over.
