How did you know my real name was Adolfo Gustavo Ferrera?!?

Next question: is that a guitar case?

It's an old briefcase. Believe it or not, somebody used it as the base for a lamp. Now I wish I'd taken a pic zoomed out. You sure find some weird stuff in thrift stores.

And I use the term "thrift store" lightly. Many times I've turned over an item in a thrift store with an $8 price tag on it to discover there's a $2 sticker on the bottom of it from Family Dollar. Not so thrifty.

I like browsing in those stores but mostly I have donated stuff.

I've found some great deals on various things over the years @thrift shops and even Goodwill. I collect traditional knives the kind your grandfather carried. This was at a pawn shop but I bought a $150 knife for $20 I enjoy thrift shops, yard sales and such. Very cool score @toomanycats.

Yep, the lamp-making out of old stuff can be something else, saw a bunch made of old film cameras, that were probably in working order, some iconic actually. The central lamp shaft goes straight through the body like a stabbing. ouch! Also sad for folks like me who are using same cameras!

Well, to be honest I did deface an old powder-blue American Tourister shell suitase into a 2x8 speaker... sounded like caca!

Best Goodwill buy was Mitutoyo digital calipers, six bucks, had just landed on the shelf.. gone in my basket!
Goodwill online, were the better stuff goes, has horrendous shipping costs.

It gets harder and harder to find deals because they google value so quickly. Pawn shops are like retail outlets anymore. Thrift shops do not put the effort in sometimes so there are still some good deals. I bought a tuner the other day in a pawn shop and it was priced the exact same as it was on Amazon. I did not argue because I got it right that moment. They had a rack full of $100-$150 guitars and only wanted $250-$300 for them. I suppose he would take offers but either he takes much less or his customers are not smart.

Darn.. the old ladies at thrift shops now spot good clothing brands and mark them up.
Forget about finding that near-new six-dollar L.L. Bean parka, it is now marked up to twelve!

I guess you have to wait for the five-dollar-a-bag day to score.
