I had the pleasure of seeing John Mayall in a small dump of a club in 1979 outside of Wilmington, Delaware. He was great. Of course Gary Moore was not there at the time. It was an exciting time, also saw Elvis Costello and the Attractions at a place in Philly called the Hot Club. Literally they played on a slightly raised platform 2 or 3 feet from where we were standing with our watered down drinks. Another great show. The late 70s were the bomb.
