Well, against my better judgement, I purchased yet another box of disappointment this morning. I was able to get a Mystery Stocking. I guess the odds may be a bit better than lottery scratchers...

Anyone else fall for this again this year?

Didn't even know it was going on. After the price increase and dismal products, it's a wonder they have enough people entering it. I did get some nice pedal jumpers once, and stickers, and useless gauge strings.

I think we should get something going here for Xmas. I do have some homemade pedals and other stuff I'm too lazy to list on Reverb. Anyone? Buehler?

Not a bad idea mozz. I have some old gear here that I can contribute.

Yeah, would be good, proceeds go to some charity. New, used, handmade, rare, who knows. We could have a $1 entry fee, up to 10 chances per person, or different categories priced accordingly. All members get 1 free entry if you are broke/retired/lazy.

Nah, when it was cheaper it was worth an "ahh, what the heck", but nope, especially with the state of the US economy lately.
(Depends on who you talk to though)

I would go for an AGF thing though.

One of the online guitar magazines has this, I dont recall which.
You buy a box of unknown contents- used to be like $15. The price has gone up considerably since.

A small number have some pricey items, boutique pedals, etc.
The rest have a variety of common items, picks, stickers, pack of strings in common gauge, basic guitar strap, etc.
But also a lot of cast offs like a pack of strings in odd gauge: not really junk, but not really useful to most players.

So its like a raffle but you get a box of what I would call mostly junk and chance at some good stuff.

One of these days I'm going to learn to read and buy me a guitar magazine.

Well, here is my box of stuff worth every penny I paid for it... I guess it not the kill but the thrill of the chase (that's how the song goes anyway). :)
