This year I decided I like the Clayton pickups in the triangle shape, both for the feel and 3 points instead of 1. And I use Monster Grips on my picks to help me hold onto them better. But the shape of these pickups makes it harder to palm them when switching between finger style and picking in the same song. Today I got a weird idea.

I always have a ton of little neodymium magnets of all shapes and sizes, so it occurred to me I could drill a hole in the middle of the pick and encapsulate a tiny magnet sandwiched between Monster Grips. This way, instead of palming the pick, I can just magnetically hang it on any steel part when I'm not using it. Even works on pick guard screws, though the stop tail studs have the most solid attraction. So far it is working well. I think I like this.
