Weekend Garden Acquisitions: We have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to Garden Centers near where I live...massive centers with really good prices..Acquired a bunch of plants and pots for my coming week's labors in beautifying the yard area.

I never wanted a damn thing to do with gardening until I read the George Harrison used to garden as a way to bring more beauty into the world. Putting it thise terms makes it seem more important somehow.

Now....I still don't like doing it, but I want the results. And I want our house to look nice. Still sorting out what to do,but it will likely involve low maintenance perennials.

Rollin check the agriculture gardening section of one of your state universitys. Here it woud be Clemson , they know what work well in your area and can give lots of free low cost advice. Might as well take advantage of your tax money.

The kitchen garden has been started. Got these great textured poly cubes that hold a surprising amount of soil. Look great ..herbs and edibles in front cells and flowers including sunflowers in the back. Stay tuned..

In that vein I read a famous architect, possibly Frank Lloyd Wright, who said it was important to have some nice things around you if for no other purpose than to have beauty in your environment.
