This son a gun is still here with us. Ripped my chimney off and and rain is leaking all over my kitchen cabinets and ruing The ceiling as well. Lost my gutters and have fence repair. Can’t get on the roof to fix the hole because we are still in a Cat 2 or 3. Still very windy. I am soaked and tired. But if I was not home I would have more kitchen damage. I am catching some of the rain with totes that is leaking in the kitchen.

Still can’t hook up the generator due to the rain and wind we still have. I believe it stayed a Cat 4 for a while. Much longer than anticipated. Never seen so much wind in my life. Can y’all please ask it to leave. Electrical poles laying in neighbors yards. One of my gutters is just banging up against one of my sons cars. Too windy to get out there and deal with it.

My neighbors patio cover is wrapped around some of my porch collums in the front yard and stop sign, and some is in the back yard. This is going to be a mess to clean up and it’s not over yet as of 8 pm tonight. Started around 10:30 when we lost power. Ask it to stop for us please.

I hope the storm left sooner than later. The morning light is always difficult.

MOJO that tomorrow you can safely pick up after the chaos.

After living through Katrina at Keesler AFB, you couldn't pay me to stick around for one like this though.

Bright side, looks like the wind field was nice and tight so the storm surge wasn't as bad.

I feel for you. I was at Keesler for 18 months. I left for the last time on a Thursday, Hurricane Camille came to visit the following Sunday.

Good Luck Sam. Sounds like a horrendous mess, I hope you live in a tight-knit community where everyone can pitch in and get things back to normal as soon as possible.

Easy to tell you've never lived thru one of these.
Now the worst part begins, rebuilding, cleaning up, fighting with insurance companies, etc.
The trying to return to normal.
It is not over.

Best of luck to SamIV and anybody else affected. I think the best we can say is that Ida wasn't as bad as it could have been. My in-laws, who live in Hammond, LA, had about 25 - 30 trees knocked down on their property. Miraculously, none of them fell on the house. Given the size of their property, I can hardly imagine that there are any trees left standing. No word on the condition of my sister-in-law's house - I know she and her son evacuated and are safe, but they haven't been able to get back to check on their house yet.

SamIV, hope the cleanup and repairs go as smoothly as possible. Thinking about you from all the way up in Canada. Mojo sent.

Sam is in Terrebonne Parish (county). The latest news I've been able to get from there is:
They do not have electricity, gas, water, sewer, internet, cell phone service.
They are in for a rough few weeks, or longer.

My in-laws are in Tangipahoa Parish. The latest news is that my sister-in-law's house has structural damage and is probably a complete loss. My parents-in-law's house is not damaged, but they have no electricity (duh) and access to their house is largely blocked by fallen trees and flooding. Cell service seems to be sporadic. I may be going down there to help out for a bit.

Just wanted to let all know we are ok. Never seen so much damage except for on the news. Trees, and electrical poles down everywhere. Lots of roads impassable. Started cleaning most today. Just got a trickle of water today, so I can shower tonight. Been 3 days and we smell. Took me 6 hours to get a little gas today for the generator. My house has minimal damage compared to a lot here. Most gas stations are totaled, too damaged to open, or don’t have gas or electrically. But we are ok, and feel fortunate compared to most. Buddy just sent me a text saying his mother in law lost everything except for the what they were wearing. Going to try to drive to Lafayette Thursday and to get more gas cans, gas, water and other essentials. About town hours away most days. Just got service here about 8 pm but it is intermittent. Raining again here and just noticed my kitchen is leaking again. Thought I fixed. Guess I’m a better guitar player than a roofer. And that’s not saying much. Take care.

Unfortunately the ordeal continues. Being without A/C in these Southern Climes this time of year is dangerous. Be safe.
