I really feel "Inspired By KISS" Transformer look-a-like bands covering Led Zeppelin with really bad vocals and a guitar player whose tone is completely different from Jimmy Page's is exactly what the Saturday morning cartoon world is looking for. Further more I predict monumental success among 9 and 10 year old's everywhere. Out of the way Power Rangers there's a new act in town THE CYBRETRONIC SPREE ROCK ON YOU GNARLEY DUDES.

I dig costumes and creative stuff like this, but I'm not completely convinced that band wasn't miming to a track. I'm also not completely convinced they were trying to sound like Led Zeppelin.

I am completely convinced that they could have come up with a better name if somebody really put some thought into it.

Another cover band trying to make things work in a Covid world. Were they trying for the exact tone of Led Zep ? Doubt it female lead and the costumes tell you they got their own thing but do 80's 70's covers since money DUH. Give them credit for getting work and attention for making music good or not as good as you would play in public.

I like a bit of showmanship but this wasn't it. If anything it detracted from their ability. Now if the lead singer was in a bikini? Now that's showmanship.

It's obvious that they played it live at the show they filmed at but used the audio from a "studio" recording. Countless bands do that for "live" music videos. The mix was way too dry for this song.

And no, I, I'm sure it's closer to the style of THAT band. Tribute bands try to copy things exactly. Cover bands and original bands playing covers should sound at least a bit different.

Not here to champion this band by any means (I'm never gonna watch another video of theirs or go to a show), but I feel like people are being a little too critical of it for what it is. It is much easier making a cover video like that and getting views than it is to get anyone to actually look into new original music. For every 10 people I meet that rip on cover bands, it would be lucky if 1 of them makes an effort to find or support new original bands. Granted, I bet the number is higher than 1 on THIS website...

I should have elaborated more on my comment. When I said they weren't trying recreate the original song, I didn't mean that as a dig. I've played in a number of cover bands, and in none of them did we ever attempt a 100% faithful reproduction of every song down to a granular level. That would be exhausting and irrational in anything less than a tribute band. In the last original band I was in, when we did covers we went out of our way to do our own version of the song (it was a jam band), so I'm not a stickler or a slave to the original recording.

However, I do think it's dishonest to paste a studio recording over live footage to promote your band as a live act. No matter how many people are doing it.

Oh, I agree to the point that I don't find it very interesting. I don't know how dishonest I find it as it's pretty obvious to me. However, if you're band's primary product is live performances, showing that live performance is best for a promo. Most cover bands in our area do record in a studio for the promo. When I make my band's videos, I use board recordings (and plan on getting a good multi-track mix eventually) from a real live show. The problem is that it sounds good enough to put the recordings in the same category of the other bands' studio recordings, but not AS good.

EDIT: I should clarify that I didn't think you were being negative towards them, Mossman. Just adding on comments. Looking back, my post seemed kinda harsh.
