Just got a bill for 60% extra for shipping fees on a package I guarantee I measured correctly. I have another box exactly like I sent and I'll measure it again.

Reverb can't tell me what the reason was for the cost difference and I can't get any info from UPS since I am not the shipper since it was sent via Reverb account. I could have used my FedEx account and paid less and I have jack all for a discount.

They offer no phone support anymore and their chat is little more than canned spam responses.

I am free to send feedback to their site...whoopity doo.

I gave them another chance and I am done for good.

Etsy has ruined Reverb for me.

I didn't realize Etsy was even an option - how does that work?

Etsy acquired Reverb back in 2019 and owns it now. Strange purchase for sure and it does seem like things have gone a bit downhill since that happened. I haven’t used Reverb since 2018 and always had an amazing experience back then, but it seems things are falling apart a bit now. Lots of complaints from people about stuff not being done properly and changes no one likes or wanted.

Ahh...I misread - I thought he meant that Etsy was somehow a better place to sell than Reverb, I forgot they were the ones who acquired them. I remember that now and fees did go up also at that time. They also force you to buy their insurance on items over a certain amount, the last guitar I sold there was over $100 to ship because of that. I think it's still potentially worthwhile to utilize them if you have a higher priced guitar or something you really want to reach a wide audience with, and honestly there's not too many other options. Facebook marketplace was looking promising but now they've eliminated the option of messaging sellers directly unless you sign up for an external messenger.com account, so for all intents and purposes that's a completely unusable platform anymore. Ebay has all the same problems that Reverb is starting to have, and Craislist is well, ...craigslist.

My solution is to just not sell anything ;-)

I hear you haha. I've had very good luck with local selling on Craigslist, managed to move something like 7 guitars last year that were just taking up space. I'm pretty happy with everything I've got now though, I am probably going to let both of my Agile LPs go (the 3100 Silverburst with SS frets and Bareknuckles and the 3200 custom shop with Bareknuckles), and probably going to sell my Agile Epic as well just because I don't play them as much as everything else I own but beyond that I'm pretty much done selling also.

I have some gear that I just can't be bothered to sell because Reverb and Ebay suck so much now. FB Market place is a hassle and slow moving in my parts, so it'll just keep collecting dust until I can be more motivate to do something.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charges.

I will be.

I just contacted UPS and they can't tell me anything about the shipment.

I don't understand how Reverb thinks they can charge people like this without any proof provided.

Also keep in mind,, more states now are requiring you pay income tax +15% on your sales if you cross $600 in the year...so we will all eventually get the privilege of paying taxes multiple times on the same item.
There are 1/2 dozen east coast blue states that have adopted this rule but it's coming eventually for everyone.

That sucks. I've heard of that happening (even without Reverb involved) but fortunately have never experienced it. The closest I got was an idiot at the local FedEx being unable to calculate correctly the size of a box when flat (they were measuring one dimension twice when flat).

Reverb fees have gone up. I think there just isn't a better option for me than Reverb. I've had more problems with eBay. I try CL and FB Marketplace but I get a lot of lowballers.

It gets even better. I asked for proof from Reverb or I would be initiating action with my credit card co and all of a sudden this was just an error...

It took me chatting twice and emailing, but dammit I know I measured my box correctly. I am a stubborn Dutch/German lad and would not suffer this quietly.

Wonder if anyone else happened to get a random fee like this and just accepts it???

Either way, I am probably done using Reverb since I don't have much left to sell. I don't like how they have gone to the eBay customer service model. The personal touch CME added is completely gone.

//Hi Nate,

Thanks for being patient and I do apologize for the delay in my response! I was able to forward this to my resources and it seems like this was an error. We've added the $29.67 on the payout balance that you can transfer to your bank account.

You can click the link below for you to request a bank transfer:

Sorry for the confusion and thank you for understanding! Feel free to reach out again with any of your concerns. I'll be happy to assist.

Thank you for using Reverb and have an awesome day!

Or maybe they looked at my selling history and did a little accounting and decided charging me $30 and losing a good seller is not good business...

Oh well, they still probably will lose me as a seller. I only have cheap stuff left to sell and it is hard to sell a $100-$200 guitar with shipping being at least $50 due to the requirements on box size in order to not get screwed by Reverb shipping protection...
