She and her husband and two daughters tested positive last week. Just got news she was admitted to hospital yesterday. She apparently is feeling better today and chest xray is clear. Very scary.
Ironically, my oldest brother got the vaccine last Tuesday. He's a doctor. And my other brother doctor is getting vaccine any day.
Sister is in hospital with covid. :(

Glad to hear she is showing improvement, hopefully she will be able to come home soon. I work for a hospital network myself and we received our first allotment of the first vaccine last week and now the first round of the Moderna vaccine yesterday. They are working out a plan for distribution, at this point both are only approved for emergency use, which means just front-line health care workers. It probably won't be available to the public for quite some time, and when it is it will be targeted at vulnerable populations first.peskypesky wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:31 am She and her husband and two daughters tested positive last week. Well, her being released sounds like a great Christmas present. Glad she is better. Glad your brothers will be vaccinated. Looks like our RN's and CNA's will be getting vaccinated soon.

I'm basically a hermit. I never leave the house except to go to grocery store once every two weeks, and I have a couple of friends I see for lunch once a week. They both live alone and are pretty much hermits too, so I have very little exposure.
And I'll be spending Xmas alone, just to be safe.

Better safe than sorry for sure, wishing your sister a quick recovery! We don't even go to the grocery store thanks to Instacart...just get everything delivered to our doorstep so there's no need to go anywhere with a bunch of people. Unfortunately entrusting people with following proper precautions has proven to be a huge mistake (see: all the people literally fighting security guards to get into places unmasked), so we also make sure to err on the side of caution.peskypesky wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 10:49 pmI'm basically a hermit. I’m glad to hear she improved. Continue to stay safe. My fiancée will be working in COVID units soon. One thing that seems to get missed in all the talk of stressing the hospitals, is the visitor restrictions will reach the point of being zero visitors allowed, if they haven’t already in your area. There’s just no beds left. No room. Not enough help. I imagine your family is all too aware of this. All around it’s a crappy time to be (or need to be) in the hospital for so many reasons.

Your never alone on Xmas when your watching the original Planet of The Apes series. Guaranteed, others are with you in practice.

+ 1 for sister in safe condition.
Part of my Xmas: a cable channel had " It's a Wonderful Life" spooling, like four times in a row, so I glanced at the movie at odd times in the plot, while doing some chores, starting by the near-end, working backward, and again. It ends well!
Pretty good acting, even though Wikipedia says it was a flop on release.

The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.
