The hard-to-find Switchcraft switch on my Peavey Wolfgang is getting a little loose. It still engages positively, but is getting close to the point where I will be able to change pickups by blowing on it.

Is there any effective way to tighten up the switch's action? This and the scratchy/intermittent volume pot have me a little concerned.

I've never done this before, but having some mechanical inclination I would conclude that the solution involves increasing the force with which the two "blades" press inwards. That probably involves disassembly of the switch in order to bend the blades sufficiently to achieve the proper amount of plastic deformation. If this seems like a lot of work, you have to ask yourself, is it more work than replacing the switch entirely?

+1 for @toomanycats . You've probably fatigued the metal. Change the switch.

Well, this one is hard to find -- it has a longer threaded area than the normal Switchcraft 90-degree switch. I am on contact with Peavey to see if they have any. Failing that, I need to see if I can get one from an electronic supply house.

If that proves less than feasible, I will buy the regular switch and build a hybrid.

Could you use the switch nuts with extra threads to use a standard 90 degree switch?

I was drawing a blank until @honyock said this. I knew there was something that I had seen at some point.

Peavey used to be standoff-ish about selling parts direct to non-dealers / authorized repair centers. If they tell you to go to a dealer, ask them for a recommendation of an authorized parts dealt "who are accessible to your location, will have the part in stock - ready to ship."

Does Peavey still sell a guitar comparable to the Wolfgang?

Yes,they call it the HP2. It is basically the Wolfgang with a different name.

I ordered the switch with the shorter threads. I'll make the hybrid if I can. It looks easy enough.
