I can get behind a project like this more than Plek'ing an Affinity, though I would never leave a maple neck (or any neck, really), without any finish whatsoever. It'll be more susceptible to moisture and humidity, and when that wood gets dirty it'll just look gross.

Bummer, my $70 glarry bass plays pretty nice. Picked it up barely used with a little chip for $70. I had to pay a bit more but i actually get a bass for the extra money
