Hang em High (or low )

Finally completed the dreaded task of hammer drilling thru the concrete walls. I'm pretty sure this house can withstand a nuclear blast. That old drill was straining but finally broke thru.
GF asked why there was an extra one after I sent her the pic.....ha ha ha ..she's still learning..

Nice job! Lol at "extra" guitar. As with money, there is no "extra" when it comes to guitars. There is only more, or less. Never "extra".

Don’t worry, once you get over six or seven it’s harder for her to keep track.
Looks great by the way!

Possibly not legal in Canukistan, but I have a concrete nailer powered by .22 blanks. If you can get one, consider it for your next half dozen hangers because it makes it SUPER easy.

FWIW, I have 1/2" drywall over CBC on my outer walls and I used those plastic 50lb rated self tapping screws with enough of the tip cut off so I didn't have to drill into concrete so they're flush with the outer surface. There are three per hanger and even though all that's being grabbed is the wallboard, after five years they're all as snug as ever...

Move that chair and there is space for at least 3 more.

Yeah...no drywall here in Thailand. These walls are all precast reinforced concrete brought to building site and installed when building the house. The hammer drill does a good job but the ones higher up on the wall....standing on a chair while trying to exert enough pressure on the drill to make it move forward is precarious at best. The lower one easy peazy. I had visions of the chair slipping out and the drill bit going into my brain at one point. The real tip is to use a big zip loc bag taped right under the hole you are drilling...collects 90% of the concrete dust, makes cleanup easier. And of course when going thru concrete, safety goggles and earplugs...it's really a pain in the butt which is why I put it off for so long.
Funny thing I only noticed as I hung them, that the Strat (which I had perviously weighed in at a standard 8 lbs) is heavier than the LP by at least a pound. I'm guessing it's mahogany but extensively chambered. All the better.

Yeah, pretty sure as a foreigner here, I might have trouble getting any type of firearm load. Even possessing a flak jacket will get you jailed....but you can drink outside the 7-11 after you buy your $1.25 beer so I guess it all evens out.

If you ever expand your collection to four guitars, you could just remove the top two wall hangers, attach a 1"x6" that juts out a bit to the right and then just attach more wall hangers to that....

Great suggestion. I was actually looking into this Slat Rail hanger bar thing IKEA sells....third party slat rail guitar hangers are available too so I was going to install 2 rails staggered one high and one low which would hold maybe 6 total, plus the acoustic spot for a total of 7. The possibilities are there.
What I really wanted to install was this from StringSwing but the Thai distributer only carries the floor stands:

Added an IKEA table for amp and multifunction pedal. Also drawer for guitar parts storage.
All bamboo same as wall mounted deskto match
A bit of cable management and we're good to go

I'm trying to do some rearranging and clutter management. I like what you're doing.

I put up boards on my basement wall, into concrete. Same as you I had to stand in a chair. What a pain!!
I told my son to get all his guitars off the hanging wall recently.... needed to create a few empty spots ... ya know , just in case. He was struggling to wire up one of his guitars and I went ahead and did it for him so he could take it to his apartment ... Ned moar empty spots!

Just what I was thinking. How about 3 decorative wood strips Al laround the room. Then you can secretly add dozens of hangers without drilling. Of course there is all that drilling at the beginning but then you get the nice wood racing stripes on your wall. Maybe some high quality glue?

No worries...I have expansion plans...the houses in this development are fairly small...but many people build small additions in the back (usually for outdoor kitchen area..it's a Thai thing) I'm going to eventually do that...but instead of kitchen equipment...it's going to be amps/guitars/Entertainment room...kind of like a real man cave.
