@andrewsrea, A friend that I used to jam with quite a bit recently moved a considerable distance away due to work just as we were starting to try to write some original music. I haven't tried it yet but I did sign up at BandLab. It looks like it might be a great way to collaborate quickly and easily to rough out ideas but I am not sure how good the online DAW is. I will let you know how it works out.
As far as covers, I haven't had any issues with Soundcloud yet but I rename the titles of the songs to something similar but not exact. I don't know if that helps or if they just don't police it as much.
