It's just almost hard to understand these days you can get absolutely stellar sounds with pretty much any preamp as long as it has a comp, an eq and some slight OD. Almost anything will work. Then just send it to DAW thru a decent IR cabinet emulator and that's it.

I tried a bunch of different preamps ranging from Mooer mini series to the truck, and some others as well, but settled for an old GT-8. It's more than enough for me, and yields great sounds.

I don't know....it probably doesn't really even matter what kind of a preamp you use...I mean, from POD to Headrush, Amplitube plugin to JVM410h I've always gotten the sound I want. It's just a question of how complex the system has to be...this is dead simple. Just GT8, and live into a 20w clean tube amp. Recording, just put the radar in stead of the amp and go.
