I have a $10 fender I use. Take it with me to p;lay with my friends and it works fine. I prefer it to a pedal right now (this is always apt to change) but it is simple, works well and as like its owner, cheap.

I have a Snark clip on tuner that works well, but I pretty much only use it on my acoustic guitars, which I rarely play. I did use it on a handful of big gigs a year in the Before Times when it's a fire drill between bands and my Axe FX system isn't powered up back stage. I do have a little better luck using an old Korg handheld tuner with a 1/4" input for that, though, since I've noticed the clip-on tuner can be a little finicky with my Floyd Rose super strats when I'm back stage and subwoofers are blaring from the band before us.

But it's definitely a gadget that I think any guitar player should have.
If I had something witty to say, I'd put it here.

I had a Gibson LP with the G force tuning system. It does work fine, but the thing is, it requires constant tuning. I had to press tune at least five times during a 2-hour practice session. Gotta make sure the saddle is perfect as well and all that. But it works fine, and is very handy for alternate tunings as well.

Now I have two Gibson copies, an Epi and a Cort, both with basic Kluson type tuners, and when I string 'em and pull the strings tight and good (which you can't do hard with g force) they stay in tune not only for the two hours but very likely several training sessions thru. The only time I need to tune them is when temperatures or moisture changes so if I keep my guitar there on site I don't really tune much at all usually.

But onstage it will be different and temps change constantly because of the lights and all.

Still, cheap guitars are far better I'm keeping the tune than Gibsons, simply because they use less reactive cheaper woods like maple necks instead of mahogany, and impermeable lacquers instead of true old skool lacquers that "breathe".

I've owned three Gibsons over the past 20 years and they all needed tuning far more often than cheap copies of the same and also far more frequent truss rod adjustment.

Great guitars, but in practice and especially live, I rather play a cheaper copy, just slam Gibson pickups in them and I'm happy.

I didnt really think about it but I may be noticing both those issues a bit. I did need to tune 3 times during 5 hours. I thought I was really digging in and I had the AC on . So I just don't know. Gforce does a decent job but it still isnt as easy as not needing to tune at all :)

I really like my Snark clip-ons - all work well. I have a couple Fender models that don't work as well. The Reverb branded one's are cheap but I found them to be hit and miss. Most recently I've been these cheap Donner tuners and I think they work just about as well as my Snark models.
