"Boutique Sound, Affordable Price" is a well worn sales pitch.
Plus I don't trust that guy's toothy grin and crazy eyes.
My suggestion for "boutique" tone on the cheap would be to find a USA built Crate from the 90s, a Traynor of similar vintage, or any 65 AMPS model built in North Hollywood, California.
I used to ponder Ashdown amps back in the day. I think their bass amps were popular IIRC. My instincts always go to a USA made Peavey Classic 30 or Delta Blues for the best bang for the buck. They are getting harder to find. I sold my DB and kept my C30 just because of size/weight. I got my C30 from @uwmcscott in a trade.

I had an Ashdown bass amp for a while. They seem to be reasonably well known in the bass world, although AFAICT they don't have a devoted following?

Yes, you really cannot go wrong with a peavey C30, especially one of the older USA made models. I never tried a Delta Blues but would like to.
Speaking of Demos, this is a great one of the C30 by John Bohlinger from several years back. It sounds fantastic with the guitar but check out what it sounds like when he plugs in a Harmonica
