Marshalls were almost exact copies of the Fender Bassman. I have a small Rumble here i picked up cheap and have yet to repair it, too many other projects.

Yeah..I saw an almost new Rumble 40 for about 150 bucks here and If I had the space...

Just opens your eyes to the possibilities...I'm betting an amp modeler would sound great thru one of these too

@andrewsrea is known to play bass through his 100 watt "PA" head that I think has been reworked to be a guitar amp.
I seem to recall that some big bands like the Rolling Stones uses bass amps for a period (also on guitar) for a period because it was before the period when sound systems were really much better than any given amp.

You know that famous moment when Chaz Chandler brought Hendrix to see Cream, he hopped on stage and plugged into Jack Bruce's bass amp, and then reportedly Clapton went into a tailspin drug addiction wise.. so it must have sounded damned good..ha ha ha

I have read on the Internet (so it must be true!) that some of the best sounding power amps to use with guitar modelers are small TC Electronic solid-state bass heads. I gather it has something to do with the high end not being as high, or something.

I owned and used both vintage Univox and Traynor bass tube heads for guitars amps many times. I spent about a year as the lead player for a singer songwriter and I used nothing but the Univox through a vintage Fender 1x15 cabinet loaded with a JBL. That was an amazing rig. For guitars during that period I used an SG or an old Univox Mosrite copy. I got lots of positive comments on my tone back then.

As someone mentioned, a Plexi is just about the same as a Bassman. I wouldn't know because I know nothing abut such but I have read that many times over the years in articles by those that do know.
