Well,

Have had this a few days and I can't get a really good sound outta it; it always sounds weirdly midrangey-dark, or if you adjust that out, just dry and hollow. It does give a decent Marshall/ACDC-esque rhythm sound, just that ONE sound really, but still feels very lacking for leads and such.

Adding a little distortion/drive in front helps, and in some ways the sound is really even quite good - but, well, what can you expect from something like this.

Your review is very similar to what I felt after trying one. It's fairly impressive for a $99 amp, but toylike by any absolute standard.

Gotta return to this....

I made a demo of the amp for selling it, and upon listening to my own demo I decided to try it again and give it the benefit of the doubt...it's actually pretty great as a preamp into a speaker emulator OR as a low gain amp...

Here's a wave file base with just drums and my demo guitar, played with the Hotone to Mooer and basic guitar settings in my DAW...one of the upcoming Auburn songs I'm working on.

Already also tried to reamp it thru a speaker and I think I'll do that at least for leads to get a slightly bigger sound.

But I reckon I'm not gonna sell it but start using it to record my guitars..!

Oh, in both the video and the recording am using an EMG85 / S equipped superstrat.

They definitely sound better low gain. Nice demo!
