I picked up a Squier Bullet One Made In Japan from 1984. It was all original but missing the original pickup covers and was a tetanus shot waiting to happen.

I spent a lot of time cleaning it. The wiring harness was a mess. I spent some time cleaning it up and fixing the green cap so that this worked properly. I dont know if I broke it or if this came this way, but the pickup coil wiring on the bridge pickup was broken. I ordered a cheapo strat bridge pickup from the Stratosphere and installed it, I think it came out pretty good. The neck on this is sweet! A neat piece of MIJ original Squier history.

It has some serious worn in mojo! Not sure if I am going to keep it or not but I really like it and love projects like this, taking a beaten down guitar and giving it some new life

Nice clean up job Jim! I had one of those with a black body that I gave to one of my grandsons. Wanted to keep it in the family. Nice player.

I had no idea Squier was making Bullets back then. I wonder if they too were being made at the Fugen (?) factory with the rest of Squier and Fender production.

In 85 I bought an 85 Squier. Designed to 62 specs was the marketing. It was a great playing guitar and fetched compliments from guitar setup shops. Made in the same production lines as Fender Strats of the time.

Congrats.

Got the same model for $25 many years ago. Some kid had done an EVH paintjob on it...took forever to remove. The neck is great - very desirable. The pups are somewhat "meh". The small body is comfy even without the belly cut.

What a great cleanup job! If it’s a player, it’s a keeper. If not, you should turn a solid profit.
