In January I bought a PRS SE Custom 24-08 in vintage sunburst from the main store of Dave's Guitar Shop in beautiful La Crosse Wisconsin. The day after making an account and ordering they redid their website and we're unable to find my account so I hoped a guitar would eventually show up which it did sort of. I opened it to find a nuclear green PRS SE Custom 24-08,
checking my order page screenshot it showed a 24-08 vintage sunburst with serial number #1, the received 24-08 had serial #2 and the packing slip had serial #1 but the inspected by and setup at Dave's card with my name on it had serial #3.
Needless to say not thrilled so after contacting them they said that since the serial number doesn't match what I purchased that they couldn't do anything for me. So I have a used PRS Eriza Verde Se 24-08 that I didn't intend to buy instead of a used PRS SE Custom 24-08 in vintage sunburst.

So I figured they lost my future business but of course they got me again. I've been wanting to try some Fishman Fluence Classics and clicking a Google link sent me to them they had a Black 2018 PRS SE Tremonti Standard with Fishman Fluence Classics, optional rechargeable battery pack installed and cream pickup rings for $395 from they new temporary store in Madison for that price I took the plunge with some hope of getting what I expected to get.
It got here today and the previous owner wired it for voice 1 bridge volume only with a mini 500k pot. The guitar is basically brand new except for a large chip on the back covered with black paint. So I had to order a wiring kit and proper pots from Fishman for another $150 but all in all still a good deal to me. And the guitar plays like a great PRS SE should and only weighs 7.2lbs so I'm thrilled this time.

Yeah it was rather disappointing. The guitar with the serial number I actually bought showed up back on Dave's a week later so I can only assume I got that guys guitar and he got a successful return.

Get all over them on it, they have to make it right surely . . . .

In the UK there's a cheap court process - small claim court - for things like this

HNGD!

They sent you a different item on that earlier order, you have documentation, and they wouldn't make good on it?
If so, there is no way I accept "sorry we cant do anything for you".

I've heard good things about that shop - maybe you didn't speak to the right person.

Did you at least come out even or ahead in value on what they sent you compared to what you ordered?

Did you just eat this and then buy from them again?
No judgement, if you are happy with it overall then great.

I have a real chip on my shoulder for the consumer getting pushed around.
I just this week had an experience getting almost screwed by this new era "affordable" health insurance.

They say things are covered and then they aren't.
I followed their rules, in network, pre-authorized, etc. and am aware of my deductibles and such.
Like they always have, but all the consumer costs are even higher than before.

At least the imaging place told me up front and I cancelled the appointment.

Rant over, enjoy your new guitar.

HNGD in the end!

They wouldn´t receive the wrong guitar as some sort of exchange - plus/minus some cash - ? Just thinking outloud here. You got your guitar and you´re happy, that´s what matter! Enjoy it! :)

I owned one at one time. Very comfortable and playable guitars. Your pickup upgrade is a big plus for that guitar as well.

@jtcnj They were both the same price so just not the color that I picked and lugging a shipping boxed guitar on 2 buses for an hour to get to the post office I just figured I could get used to the green. The sound was just not doing it for me so I figured the Fishmans would be a versatile upgrade with their switching options and I've always wanted a Tremonti's so for the price I just couldn't pass it up. But I still hold a grudge against them!

I thought it was you over at PRS, fantastic job, really!
I’d love to see / hear more of the process, if you have any more info.
I’ve got an SE 245 with a plain painted headstock and I’ve just ordered some veneers to see if I might do a refinish and try to make it go more with the quilted body.

The job you’ve done is simply outstanding!!!

The SE Tremonti’s are fine guitars. One of the best of the SE line My Tremonti and my 245. Both SE’s. The Tremonti has the thinnest all the SE line while the 234 has one of the thickest necks. Also have a few S2’s and a CE 24. These SE’s can hang with any of them. I actually prefer the finish of my SE’s over my S2 guitars. I seem to play the 245 the most.
