My new year's resolution was to not buy another guitar this year and I only made it to Tuesday January 4th.

I was looking to "Eventually" get a PRS SE or S2 and made the classic mistake of actually looking them up online. I know rookie move right?

I narrowed it down to a Paul's guitar or a Custom 24-08.
The only PRS I've held was years ago when I got Custom 22 flat top with crescent moon inlays and a massive v shaped wide fat neck in a trade that I just couldn't bond with and moved it shortly after.

The Paul's Guitar has a wide fat neck and reports are that it's pretty chunky while the CU24-08 is wide thin and looking at the measurements of it's neck depth it's seemed considerably thinner than anything I have now so I was leaning towards the Paul's guitar.

Then I learned about a place called Dave's Guitar Shop that had somehow eluded me till now, And of course they had a spectacularly nice topped SE CU24-08 for a price hard to pass up and a black backed Aqua Paul's Guitar that I just wasn't feeling.

So I quickly took a cab over to my local guitar store that sells PRS to feel up some necks and they had one nuclear green colored 24-08 and an S2 CU24 both with wide thin necks, some much for comparison I guess. Feeling the 24-08 I was really surprised how different it felt compared to anything I have now and it felt amazingly nice.

If the Paul's was supposed to alot bigger than I figured it wasn't for me so I whipped out my phone with the Green Goblin looking CU24-08 still sitting on my lap and thankfully it was still available so I snatched it up.

I then became mortified when realized I had bought a guitar online at the exact moment I testing out the same guitar for 30 minutes in a really nice small mom & pop guitar store that's been here since the 60's, so I decided to play it cool and calmly put the CU24-08 back on the wall and then guiltily bought a random assortment of a half dozen packs of guitar strings and made my escape.

But wait it gets better, the cab couldn't get there for an hour and it was heavily snowing so I had to go back inside and guiltily browse till it came. I don't think I can go back there ever again with out buying a full Marshall stack or something.

So I'm hoping all goes well with my NUGD and see if it's a Win or Fail.

Sounds like you've already got authorization for a full Marshall stack.

So I quickly took a cab over to my local guitar store
Just for clarification, did you take a "cab" to the store as in one of those yellow vehicles with a meter running, or did you take a "cab" to the store as in a big black box that says "Marshall" on the front?

They do still have some of those little Marshall MG15MSII Micro Stacks that have been there for ages, I could probably fit 4 full stacks in my closet for a wall of doom!

Really nice looking PRS, you really can't go wrong with anything they make from a quality/finish standpoint. Dave's is my guitar Mecca and I actually visited just last weekend when I was in La Crosse for the holidays. He's been one of the biggest PRS partners for a long time, and as a result is able to always pass on good deals/unique finds to customers. If you ever get a chance to visit the shop in person it's really worth the trip.

@uwmcscott I watched a tour of Dave's on YouTube and that place looks incredible! And come to think of it I am out of Cheddar. 😁

Yes, his private collection is something to behold. I had not physically been in the store for probably 2 years with all the covid related things going on so it was really nice to get back. Like most places these days supply is a bit shorter, but they still have quite a bit of stuff. They always have PRS stuff though ;-) Plenty of good spots to pick up some yellow gold too - if you need any recommendations let me know!

Thats a beauty!
Hope its a win!

Always had my eye on PRS but never held one.
Almost pulled the trigger on one of several Soapbar 2 during my search the right P90 guitar about 5 years ago.
All were around or under $300. at the time.
Should have done it.

I said I was done buying last year / for a while - as I have been turning over some gear lately.
I made a purchase Dec. 21 that was supposed to be delivered Dec. 24, but it got lost and... ugh.
Anyway - it arrived Jan 3 - does that count?
