Pairing these two Brit blokes with Jimi was one of the most interesting things in rock music, and I get a kick out of it every time I see it!
I think I have two books about Jimi, maybe more (one is a reproduction of his lyrics drafts). I need to look up what is said about it.

Re: Speaking of car racing...
I like the motto:
RACING’S NOT JUST FOR RICH IDIOTS
Racing’s for all idiots. (This includes you.)
Hmm...the Northeast August race is two hours away.
EDIT: the rulebook is quite extensive and prescribe all matters of safety ,so there is a lot more to it that first appears!

Considering Chromecast purchase...
Yeah, while I am scrambling to figure how to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans (10-11 June!), here in the U.S., without spending too much, I figured I might as well update some old video stuff. Chromecast? Any AGF user feedback? I do not need 4K. Which generation device is "enough"? BTW, Le Ma...

Re: NEW USED GUITAR DAY: 2012 DEAN EVO SPECIAL, MIK
Uh, I picked up same Dean model in tiger-stripe red, a few years ago, locally. Hardly any wear. It has character, interesting feel and finish. There must be an old post of mine about it. The pickups nature and configuration were new to me, so I played with that for a while, not really knowing what I...

Re: Music pilgrimage of sort
A follow up: I did enjoy the Freddie M trip. Family, well, yeah. I seem to have outgrown some of their ways, and after a while, I want to retreat to my calm space, be around folks that can take a joke, a good laugh, often strangers. Odd, isn't it? Like many of us, I am sure, my hometown has become a...

Re: Any Terry Pratchett fans here?
Some say each Discworld part can be read as an independent part.
I got "Mort" from the local library network, and there very few copies, which I find odd for this fairly well-known and unique author.

Any Terry Pratchett fans here?
i picked up and am reading "Mort" by T. Pratchett on a trip, after reading a recommendation to start with that one from the Discworld series, as a beginner TP reader.
I am hooked, and I do not read fiction, these days.
Anybody into it? Recommendations?

Re: Are we all actually our own Artificial Intelligence ?
Some recent readings seem to say that artificial help can be useful in medical evaluations (vague term, i admit). My own medical path tells me that a uber well informed "system'' would bring benefits. Many medical diagnoses that seem to have missed the mark could have been flagged. I would be g...

Well, I did it and had fun. The FM statue is quite popular with a rather international crowd, even though few seem aware of what it means. Nearby is an animated mobile set in a phone-booth sized enclosure to celebrate the life of Claude nobs, founder of the festival, who passed away 10 years to the ...

Re: Bo Diddley ! Awesome Live Vid
There is a good 1988 w/ Bo and Ronnie Wood. There is some nice dual and triple rhythm impro going on. Some good slide too. Yep, seen it (or one quite like it?) Bo rocks. Stage presence! Interesting how the Bo Diddley beat has a little bit of this, a little bit of that (from what I tried to read abo...

Re: This is the Tiniest Car I've Ever Seen!
Funny, right after posting about tiny cars, spouse showed me what she found at the library freebie shelves (where folks bring their unwanted books): a 1958 copy of the magazine "Holiday", with car ads, of course. My goodness ... the size of the Thunderbird, Cadillac, Studebaker, Imperial, ...

Re: This is the Tiniest Car I've Ever Seen!
I swear I posted something on this thread earlier..? It is the typical class of cars of post-WWII Europe, had to be cheap and economical. Abarth was a race prep specialist for the later issues, and they were quite successful in rally, or club racing. This car size is still very popular on the narrow...

Re: I'm Back! Anybody Miss Me?? :-D
Heheh... Yeah, I think you'd need a time machine for that. I'd settle for going back to the '80s. One time, I told a friend that if I had my way, I'd go back to 1982 and stay there. He said: "Why would you want to go through high school again?". I said: "Who said anything about going...

Re: Music pilgrimage of sort
OK, here is the history about Montreux: Local boy, Claude Nobs created a series of rock concerts, which later became a festival. He, or some rock personality , built a recording studio. Deep Purple had time there, right after the Frank Zappa gig when the concert hall within the "old casino"...

Music pilgrimage of sort
I finally getting my *ss on a plane to see family in southeast France. I sort of opened up musically there, in nearby Montreux, Switzerland (Smoke on the Water), as a school friend took me there to see blues dudes, and later, folks like the then very old Cab Calloway! Of note: that friend was in the...

I finally got to see a bottle of Shiner Bock. .. a picture of it in " The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Beer " that my wife found at a yard sale! No such thing in the Northeast that I can tell (see my previous rant about yards and yards of IPAs on shelves, little room for anything else!). Grea...

Re: Things you did not know about banjos?
Oddly, most bluegrass banjo players I have seen, including the famous, late, Bill Keith (transcriber of E. Scruggs songs, and "Keith Tuners") are so serious while on stage.

Things you did not know about banjos?
Many banjo players use fishing line for strings! I just learned that from a new friend, accomplished banjo (and mandolin) bluegrass player. He does it when a string breaks, and so delays having to buy a replacement set. BTW, amazing how useful fishing line is. In my single days, I had all kinds of a...

Re: Its almost garden time
Started some herb seeds indoors in the plastic salad mixes come in, 02 March, cilantro, parsley. Three days ago, cilantro popped up. Same care, but no action from parsley. Now comes the critical time to keep them hydrated before true leaves develop. Eastern MA, here, it will take a while to think of...
