Site offering machined parts to you drawings?
Calling on the community memory here... Back in early 2000s, there was a site offering to machine small metal parts per your drawings. I do no recall the name, or know if it still exists. I knew that, for example, vintage motorcyle racers were frequent users for add-ons, or small parts, like bracket...

Re: Poodles getting a (gas) scooter?
Oh yeah, the Burgman line is something! A good friend is a Suzuki dealer in France, and said the larger Burgman does very well on highway! Agreed on 125 cc or so needed - I want it for backroads, but with 45 mph sections in between, and also with the benefit of larger wheels, maybe fuel injection, e...

Poodles getting a (gas) scooter?
Thinking of getting a gas scooter (50-160cc) to tool around my backroads to scope photo sites.
Anybody here into that?
What I know: there is Chinese, then Taiwanese, then the big three(?) Honda Suzuki, Piaggio, and sellers want too much, and dealers suck!
I can wrench.

OK, I was both too harsh, and expecting too much.
I still stick with the presence thing, though.

Rant: White middle-age dudes going gaga over any guitar wailing
Went to a music festival where one act had a electric guitar player, say, rock blues. Not spectacular, the kind of playing that does not quite grip you, if you know what I mean. Yet, as usual, a number of white middle age guys are going nuts over it. Like it's the first time they hear it, or they ar...

Re: Miss Me?
I have a book about diseases, looks like a oversized paperback, but thick as a dictionary. The immense variety of ailments of all sorts is scary, some symptoms can be a 1 or a 10 in severity. After a few pages, I have to put it down and close it. I have a lot of respect for general practitioners in ...

Wikipedia has the blow-by-blow of the evolution of the company. If they had stayed on, and expanded a bit, they could now be an equivalent to Michael's.
Well, it is known that companies do not last long, typically.

Tandy Leather..!
I claimed a CL posting about a leather toolset, thinking it would help me with a number of my old cameras cases in need of mending. The item is actually a Tandy Leather set with leather, tools, templates, magazines/catalogs of the era, 1960s, stuff to make wallets, belt buckles, dog collars. So, the...

Quiet (and wet) day, still working on the dog we adopted two weeks ago. Sarah is ten, with mammary cancer issues quiet at the moment. I had bought some beer, "Green Monsta" from Wachusett Brewery, western MA, but, as we had a slow cooker pork butt, we had box wine to go with it! Big thunde...

Wait, the former neighbors are fine, it is just that they should have gotten their day going, not stay on my lap! Another one, on the same register: Guest former SIL, and also a cousin's spouse would sleep until 11 a.m., at which point you have to come up with another round of breakfast...! Hecks yo...

^^ nice dog! We approached two puppy mill rescue orgs and they were very strict with standards they expected. We met one former mill mommy dog, The poor thing was so confused by the outside world, people. Very sad. Good luck to you, Ruby. Ours is doing well. "First" dog is adjusting. Guita...

How, and how long would the "checking" be?
24 hours? More?
First time running into this situation.

I think they are running the place with the minimum people possible, hence the processing delay. I would think these inner workings should be automated by now, though? I could have waited... but how long? Looking at tirebuyer right now. One thing I learn is that manufacturers strictly control the pr...

Weekend guests.... eating all my time!
Former neighbors came to visit for the weekend, with their new innovative camper. OK. They do a LeMons race at the quasi-local private track. Looks interesting...see some folks selling stints in their cars to help cover the buy in. I read the roll cage details requirements and it is not a small affair. I could see finding a way to generate a bit of cash. Not sure about the liability...
