Re: What Makes Up Your Current Gig Rig?
I haven’t gigged since before my son was born, but I’m still wearing out the Orange OR15|EVH 1x12 with a tube screamer clone in front setup. Almost exclusively playing the Gibson Mustaine V, I think I’ve picked up the LTDs a couple of times at most. But the boy just turned one recently, and he alwa...

Re: DIAMOND MARTY ALLEN GETS WHAT VAN HALEN IS ALL ABOUT
I think at the time the album was recorded and video filmed Becker could have still pulled it off. They would just need him to stand and play air guitar for a few minutes and then use creative editing and waist up close ups to finish the video. The bigger issue is the music world was going through ...

Re: DIAMOND MARTY ALLEN GETS WHAT VAN HALEN IS ALL ABOUT
I love trying to play that song, but the level of skill combined with the level of swing is beyond my comparatively meager capabilities. And who the hell was that guy? Did he own the strip club or cocaine cartel or something? There's a comment on the video from the guy who made the video , and I qu...

Re: Special gift this christmas?
No idea. I kind of throw a monkey wrench into the works by having my birthday in December too. I do intend to try to give myself the gift of being healthier, but not easy with kids. Perhaps the best gift will be my wife leaving her job for a new one that pays WAY more and is hopefully not nearly as ...

Re: Mods and attitudes
I try to make mods reversible where possible, but since I generally do cheap mods, it's not the end of days if I can't reverese them. And if the mod is a true upgrade, it'll be factored in somewhat to an asking price. Some mods however really hurt value, like the guy here who is selling an RG550 wi...

HNGD! Like I said, it's nearly impossible to go wrong with these.
I am pondering snagging another one used for a visit from my old friend Floyd, or one of his friends from Aisa and the sub-continent.

Re: KRAMER BARETTA SPECIAL in RUBY RED INCOMING
I cut the cap, and it made little difference for me. Perhaps an audio taper pot.... As for the pickup, I can see it working better lower. This guitar is bright, and sometimes it seems as though the frequencies are fighting each other. I have also pondered switching to a flat pickup ring. I'll never ...

Re: KRAMER BARETTA SPECIAL in RUBY RED INCOMING
Sound like my trem knife edge lube. Chap Stick works well, but if you melt it and stir in a bunch of Teflon, it works better. The Magic Lube I mentioned above has Teflon in it. I used it as a medium to hold the graphite, but it might work just as well by itself... The graphite probably isn't hurtin...

Re: KRAMER BARETTA SPECIAL in RUBY RED INCOMING
Pencil lead works as well, and even the Tusq XL nut apparently doesn't solve the problem if one intends to whammy. I can't speak to its effectiveness on Floyd Rose guitars, but I'll find out as soon as I put some strings on an AL-2500 that came with one. A roller nut might be an interesting solutio...

Re: KRAMER BARETTA SPECIAL in RUBY RED INCOMING
...The wildest part to me is that now that I sort of have it set up, it stays in tune better than I expected, though the g-string still binds (ouchies!). I might put the Tusq XL nut on this weekend.... A possible short-term solution might be something I use. I mix up some graphite powder with a lit...

Re: KRAMER BARETTA SPECIAL in RUBY RED INCOMING
If it's a new one, it'll have a maple body, and will ring like crazy. Mine has presence even acoustically. Re: It's only uphill one way - what do you do for exercise?
I am working towards being able to exercise again. I have been having a lot of mobility issues since 2019, but thanks to physiotherapy exercises every other day, they are now mostly solved. Once my wife's career move is sorted out, I plan to start gently exercising (no more injuries allowed) and bui...

Re: NGD! The Kramer has arrived!
For bolt ons, normally my first mod is stainless steel neck screws, especially on cheap guitars. You can really tell the difference, and sometimes the difference is substantial. Oh yeah,I think I saw that in last month's issue of Cork Sniffer. ;) Just joking. But seriously, it makes that big ...

Yesss! I'm so here for the Kramer content. HNKD and welcome to the club! I see you got a MII version, too. I hear they're now being made in China and that the neck profile is slightly different as a result. I don't know for sure if that's true but... Regardless, these things are great for the money...

Re: NGD! The Kramer has arrived!
Well, a bit more playing confirms this is maple. WAY brighter than any of my guitars. No stainless saddles for this beast!
And it's going in this weekend for the warranty repair. I assume that will be a new pot.

Re: NGD! The Kramer has arrived!
A bit of research indicates that this one has a maple body. That has a plus: if I do put a locking trem on this thing, the posts should stay in place well. I might run this thing into L&M to get them to deal.with the funky pot. After all, it is under warranty, so it should be a free fix. Maybe g...
