Wow. Sorry to hear that. I remember you talking about tbe decision to come back. So what ended up killing the company? The company line is "the decision represents the culmination of its US restructuring efforts, through which it is attempting to optimise its "operational footprint"&...

My guess is mahogany. From the photos, it looks too brown to be padauk, but I am just looking at photos.
Padauk gives a bright and snappy tone from what I understand, if that helps.

Re: What song are you obsessed with right now?
This is another song I am obsessed with. When artists come back after an absence, it's often a "that's nice, shame about the song..." scenario. Not here. This stands with his early best, but with the added weight of his life, and all it's good and bad, to make it resonate. It could be abou...

Re: THE ROMAN SPRING of toomanycats (UPDATE, NOV. 2023)
I've got to be honest with you guys — I feel like I can no longer use this forum to write honestly, openly, and earnestly about the really interesting philosophical, gritty and raw experience of a gigging guitarist — so you're not going to be privy to all of that. Make no mistake, there is stuff go...

I am not a coutry guy, but even a casual perusal of some of the outlaws' life stories will tell you that they are /were as rock 'n' roll as it comes. As far as favourite country songs go, this one takes me back to The Bree's Inn on campus at Carleton University here in Ottawa. The DJs would close ou...

Re: About 250 feet of chain link fence missing!!!!
Having the accident report is a huge advantage. My mailbox has been taken out twice by less than attentive drivers, both running off without taking responsibility. The second one I captured on video, and found pieces of his car that my mailbox bit off, but I still had no recourse. At least a mailbo...

Re: Your Super Bowl food and drink?
I watched most of the game in between getting my kids bathed and to bed. It was a fun game with that "KC will figure it out in the 2nd half" vibe, even though the SF defence (especially Bosa) were breathing fire the whole time. Speaking of breathing fire (well, not really), we had chili fo...

Re: Did You Ever Play A Song Wrong?
I am sure that I play stuff wrong all the time. In fact I know I do. Why? Because I am lazy. I get it close enough that it sounds right to my memory and go with it. It's an artifact of growing up in the casette era, where you couldn't easily slow stuff down like you can with records. Case in point: ...

Re: What do you want to build?
Another V at some point....I've got eight vees and one SG which I'm still working on, but ...I have a bit of GAS still to build a V with best possible materials. That would mean Precision Guitars kits, but those are quite expensive, and with added tax and shipping from Canada that self made guitar ...

What do you want to build?
Like the title says, what project guitar do you want to build? I have wanted to do a Jem for a long time, but I just read Brian May's Red Special book, so now I have eyes for that. But because I am weird, I want to do the version with the Kahler that Guild made back in the 80s. What is your next or ...

I do cook mixed vegetables and a bit of meat, but it comes out more like stir- fry fry Chinese.
Some kind of Mexican/Tex-Mex seasoning helps, and pour in a little salsa.

Anyone know if it's true that EVH's post 1984 tone, after he had retired his venerable favorite 100 watt Marshall Super Lead, was based on a Soldano? I could have swore I read that somewhere. EDIT: Just answered my own question. It's on the Soldano Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sold...

Great. Now I want one of those "Vai-brant" travel guitars. It would look as comically small on me as that Explorer looks large on Rick Derringer.

Dunno whether the 23 is like the 24 or not but I was reading that a REPLACEMENT HEADLAMP for a 2024 F150 is a tad over $6,000.00 ! That's a bit of an exaggeration but yes, the headlight and taillight assemblies on most of these new vehicles are very expensive. Mostly because they contain a lot more...

I don't have the same issue with Febreeze, but there are many better options out there. Just plain ol' baking soda works wonders, as does volcanic rock.

Nice job on the guitar. Now, repeat after me: “ONE TWO THREE FAW!” I recently forced mrs tmc to watch Rock 'n' Roll High School with me. It's so far out of her wheelhouse, but she really enjoyed it. She thought it was like an edgier, more raw Fast Times at Ridgemont High . I love the Ramones, and es...
