Fred Armisen Impersonates Each Decade of Punk Music | The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
And I usually say "never read the comments", but in this case the comments are actually pretty funny. (Unless you're a big Jimmy Fallon fan, I guess)

Frequent "Internal Server Error"
Anybody else getting "Internal Server Error" from the site more often than not? For the last week or two, I've been getting a lot of errors. Reloading usually fixes it, eventually.

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?
Here's something a little different! Some friends and coworkers in Jordan sent me an oud! I've only gotten to handle an oud for a few minutes before; it's just enough like a guitar to trick you into thinking you can handle it, but you realize your overconfidence very quickly once it's in your hands....

Re: Wraparound Bridge for Les Paul Jr. .....
If it's really 80.5mm, that does seem oddly small. I like the Gotoh 510UB and I have it on my LPjr type (also an import) but the dimensions are given as 82mm. The Hipshot Baby Grand gets good reviews but that one's listed at 82.75mm. Stewmac's "Golden Age Low-profile Wraparound Bridge with Metr...

I remember being taught that song in summer camp when I was a kid! I had no idea it had that kind of history.

Re: Whats on your work bench?
I tried putting graphite lubricant on the nuts of a couple of my tremolo-equipped guitars (the Frankenpeavey with a Wilkinson/Gotoh VS100N, and the Firebird with a Les Trem II). It makes a big difference - no more pinging sounds and way better at returning to pitch. FWIW, to keep the graphite powde...

Re: What the heck is this mysterious electronic box I found?
Those connectors appear to just be regular old 9V snap connectors, but they seemed a little larger than usual, and why would they be separated like that? So maybe mozz is correct in guessing it was for something other than 9V. mickey BatUtilityBelt is correct, those are LEDs. Six yellow (three each ...

What the heck is this mysterious electronic box I found?
Found this in the basement today. No labels or anything. I'm guessing it just makes the LEDs flash, but nothing happens when I attach a 9V battery to (what I assume are) the battery connectors. The workmanship is very idiosyncratic...somebody clearly knew what they wanted and put a bit of time into ...

Re: If you could design your dream amp...
Are you absolutely sure you really want an amp? How about a multiFX/modeler and a powered speaker or neutral amp? That's what everybody says now. :D But it is a valid question. I should step back and think about my needs/wants at a more basic level. * I'm looking for a gigging solution. I have ampl...

Re: If you could design your dream amp...
Ugh, I am still torn, and now I have a Christmas gift certificate to use. If I use that and some of my year-end bonus and sell some gear, I can swing a fancy new amp. The OR30 has an awesome feature set and sound. It is also larger and much heavier (almost twice as heavy!) than almost anything compa...

Re: Tone cardboard
That's a fantastic experiment. Great work in listening with your ears and not with your eyes, as people say. Clearly the tone is not in plywood vs. birch, or finger joint vs box joint, or front-mounted vs. rear-mounted. Tone is in the packing tape.

I got to see my in-laws for Christmas, which was nice. Christmas dinner saw 12 people and five dogs in the house! I got to spend time with my 12-year-old nephew and give him his new saxophone, although I think I lost a great deal of respect in his eyes when I had to reveal that I couldn't read music...

Re: If you think guitars are overpriced, look at saxophones...
Saxophones have complex mechanical parts A sax player friend living near the shore tells me he has to pay attention to the salt air effect on the instrument. I once went to the estate sale of a sax repair man. You should have seen the shop, so many small tools gauges, etc. Sadly, it all went bit by...

If you think guitars are overpriced, look at saxophones...
If you think guitars are overpriced these days, look at saxophones. My nephew is getting into the sax, and we're getting him one for this Christmas, so he doesn't have to keep playing his school's wretched one. Now, I know virtually nothing about saxophones, so I've been trying to educate myself a b...

Re: Here’s weird …
I get that 'muscle memory' confusion when I play some PRS guitars that have 4 knobs, but are not oriented like a Gibson. Instead of being Neck Volume-Tone on tope and Bridge Volume-Tone on bottom, they are like Bridge Volume - Neck Volume on top and Bridge Tone- Neck Tone on the bottom. Very confus...

Argh! GAS attack!
So I don't really need anything and I think I have everything I could really use...which is always the precursor to a severe GAS attack, right? In the last 24 hours or so, I've seen local sales listings for - a very cheap Fender Hot Rod Deville which should need just a little work to be in 100% cond...

Re: Good advice for bedroom players
I have gotten to a point where I don't beat myself up too much about mistakes on stage. The fact of the matter is that the audience responds much more to the general feel of a performance than they do to technical specifics, and the worst thing that can happen is that you make a mistake and then you...

Re: PSA: Interesting Agile triple pickup AL/LP - $300 at GC
You've got a good eye there. Zooming in to the pictures, I also notice that the middle pickup ring has no screws (?!) and the pickguard looks like it's been filed down or cut away. Yeah, it looked like the screws on the middle pickup ring were missing but I thought it might just be the lighting. I ...
