Re: Parlor Acoustic Build

Here's another short one with some fingerpicking. Ignore the clams and tempo changes :) This one I'm actually plugged into an amp. I'm running through a Fishman rare earth humbucking, into a brown face Vibrolux clone, with a little bit of reverb. The volume on the amp is down quite a bit, so as not ...

Re: Parlor Acoustic Build

The links to the sound demos are not showing up on my end though @TheIrritableLuthier ;) Ok, I've been slacking off with this, I know. I haven't been particularly satisfied with my playing as of late, but here's at least something passable. Some simple strumming. Just recorded with my cell phone in...

Re: Parlor Acoustic Build

I'm behind in this thread. That build is beautiful. Terrible about the neck. Did the head break off? I've only built a dulcimer back in hs. I tried it without making a mold for the body. It turned out a little lopsided. But it worked. I always dreamed of progressing on to doing something like yours...

Re: Parlor Acoustic Build

Sideport! I love it! I think? I love the concept and I've only played a few. A few times maybe not special to me but some other times it seemed really great. Thanks. It is a good idea, but this was first time even trying a guitar with a side port, so I don't really have a good context for compariso...

Re: Parlor Acoustic Build

It's been a busy couple months but this is finally done I'd have been done a month ago but the neck and body fell off my workbench together. The body fared ok, just a finish crack that I was able to repair decently, but the neck was a loss. I salvaged the fret board and truss rod and started from s...

Re: Does anyone have 1 or 2 of these - GFS GF'Tron Adapter Plate

Its certainly worth a try, especially if this is your best option for mounting the pickups. I made my own in the past, both aluminum and plastic, but if you aren't equipped for DIY, I'd go with these and try them. Just keep in mind if you find things darker than you'd like, those bars could be the ...

Re: Does anyone have 1 or 2 of these - GFS GF'Tron Adapter Plate

Plastic is better, aluminum darkens the tone. I speak from experience. Aluminum, while not magnetic, is conductive, and appears to sap away the high end from filtertrons, which is kinda the point of filtertrons. I didn't think of that and didn't know that. Thank you for mentioning. Unfortunately in...

Also, my first time attempting this feature, and it turned out pretty good - a side port.

Just a bit of sanding left, then I can route the dovetail pocket and start applying shellac.
