Hard to do that when the back of the pot already is touching the cavity cover. That’s why I have to live with it as is.LancerTheGreat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 4:17 amHey for your tone pot with the knob that sits too high, just put an extra nut or a few washers on the inside of the cavity to make it sit lower and match the others.

Got my Buddhanauts in and got them installed. I have a few small wiring clean ups to do, but they sound SO DANG GOOD and look as good as they sound, if not better. https://i.imgur.com/kMIfNBFl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lYVh4Ejl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/07kne1ql.jpg compared to stock: https://i.imgur.co...

Re: Two Guitar Re-wire
You match your pots? You think a lot harder about this than I do! I'm happy if it all works properly once I'm done. I did for these two projects. Honestly, it doesn't really matter. I doubt I could or would hear any difference had I just tossed them in a bin and picked them out at random. But I cou...

Re: Today's SDOTD at MF seems pretty nice - G&L Jazz Bass for a price of Squier
Had a friend on the bass forum I'm on that ordered one of these and the bridge wasn't correctly routed for intonation, and it was by enough that it was obvious when playing it with anyone. The bridges on these are also recessed into the body, so you can't just move it. Obviously I don't know that ev...

Re: NGD: 1993 USA Peavey Predator
So far, other than stripping it down, I have cleaned the neck, polished the frets (which are in surprisingly good condition for their age), and took steel wool to everything but the fretboard to knock back the gloss and level out some of the imperfections and small scratches and dings in the finish....

NGD: 1993 USA Peavey Predator
I had been contemplating doing a Warmoth build for a strat next year or so, when a Predator popped up with a maple fretboard at a price I couldn't refuse. https://i.imgur.com/4eT2gHil.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gLP9Apvl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AXELHQYl.jpg It's not in the best of shape, but it's also a...

Definitely not a Carvin. Looks like a Chinese house-brand PJ, akin to a Rogue or so, from what I can tell. The 7 screw bridge is a giveaway there. Other than that, I'm not sure. I've seen that headstock before, I just cannot for the life of me place the brand. I feel like it starts with an S.

Re: Two Guitar Re-wire
RANT MODE ON: Tone pot doesn't have to be matched to the vol pot. I'd really like to know where you heard that one. If it's got 2 pickups, maybe you would put the higher pot on the neck pickup (to make it brighter) and the lower pot on the bridge pickup (to tame some shrill). Chances are 1 out of 1...

Two Guitar Re-wire
The tone pot in my Schecter Tempest had one of the tabs break while I was taking the knob off to replace them, so I went ahead and ordered a new set of pots for it to fully rewire it, and I'm waiting on my Buddhanauts to be finished and shipped in the next couple of weeks, so I'll be tearing down th...

Yep, I was going to say, if you already have speakers, Seismic is a great choice.Partscaster wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:43 am Seismic is a good inexpensive cabinet maker on Amazon.
Worth looking at anyways.

I have 6CA7s in my Peavey VB-2, and they are incredible power tubes. I need to do some preamp tube rolling in that head though.

I attempt to play. I'm a bass player primarily, so my guitar chops are...mediocre. But I'll do some recordings once it's finished with the new pickups in.

This is just user error on their end. There's a button on listings that if you tap sends an 'is this item available' message.mark_morton wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:24 am Only downside is I get a lot of messages asking about availability but don't hear from them after that.

Got some very exciting (tm) new stuff. Ordered a set of satin hardware for the AD-3200, knobs for it and for the Tempest, GraphTech saddles for both, and an upgraded bridge for my Ray4. Will do pics of the AD when I get it swapped over.

I wanted to try NYXL with a wound 3rd, so my Tempest has 12s on it, but is tuned to Drop C#. I wish they had a 10 set with a wound third in the NYXLs. Might try a String Joy or Kalium set next on the AD.

.70 and up, essentially. I think I’ve been reaching for the 1.13 lately but .77 is also a good go-to.

Re: Do you guys really care about specific patches?
It really depends on the gig, to me. If you're playing in a band that's schtick is record-perfect reproduction, then sure, getting as close to song-perfect as possible is ideal. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of playing covers that are recognizable but not necessarily the same 'sound' as the original....

NGD: AD-3200 Burple Burst
I finally sold my AL-3100 Semi-Custom last week and so I ordered the AD-3200. Holy crap this guitar does not disappoint. It's a good chunk heavier than my 3100 was, and that guitar was a 2011/2012 run with the super thick body, but not so much so that it'll be unbearable with a 3" strap. I also...
