Re: NGD: PRS A60E Acoustic
On an unrelated note, lately I've noticed several posts by members in which the pics get flipped 90 degrees, including some of mine. I'm wondering if there isn't some glitch in the system. I am thinking that my photos are almost always presented catawampus when I bring them in and orient correctly ...

NGD: PRS A60E Acoustic
Well, it finally made it! Final inspected in August 2024 and supposedly only played 3 times (it looked that way - totally mint!). Came with all the original case candy from Sweetwater (except the bag of candy), which included a lower height saddle (which I installed and still need to lower a bit). M...

Re: NGD SJM-62
A great guitar. Mine still gets good play time, although I need to put a little blue thread lock on the bridge saddle grub screws, as they keep lowering the action by the guitar vibration.

Re: Chinese Company Buys Marshall For $1 BILLION!
I played for years through a valvestate back in the late 90s and it was a great amp actually. Sold it to fund my first tube amp though, a mesa rectifier The Valvestate was a completely underrated amp, IMHO. They suffered reliability problems as they aged from heat and their thin PCB, but nothing wh...

Re: Chinese Company Buys Marshall For $1 BILLION!
I think the old ones are better. Except for their faithful and overly priced reissues, IMHO - yes. Any 'magic' Marshalls are like a Tweed amp and need to be played at substantial volume. I lost count of the people who swore they had Marshall magic at bedroom volumes and became deflated as I cranked...

Re: favorite tuners?
finished the install today, I forgot how much these liven up the sound, or maybe it is just the EXL110w strings vs the dead stock Harley Benton strings... I think it could be because they use a steel body shaft that is the same size as the tuner hole in the head stock so there is very little wiggle...

Re: Zenon 60's Off-Set Bridge Modification
Typically, that style of bridge is found on offsets with a Jaguar style tremolo, and they sit in recessed cups, which allow the bridge to rock back and forth with the strings and the trem action.

Re: favorite tuners?
For a second, I thought the thread was going to be about Snark-type tuning devices. :ugeek: I will typicaly get by with any type of guitar tuner, but am extremely picky when it comes to replacements. First is low weight, as I despise a heavy headstock. Second, would be the fit of the mechanisms: loo...

I was a big fan of the white tolex crate palomino amps look. Crate Palamino's and their Club series were fantastic amps. I was an authorized Crate warranty repairman from 1987 to 2002 and got to see them on their release. Now that I live in the St. Louis region, I actually met and have talked with ...

Re: Incoming NGD - Koa/Ash Kiesel Vader!
I think I brought it to @andrewsrea and while I don't think it was exactly his thing, I don't think he had anything negative to say either. I was surprised for how catywhopmus a fan-fret guitar looks, there was little acquaintance / adjustment time to play it. That said, I also did not feel any pla...

Re: Humans, I think our days are truly numbered. AI is unreal.
That's crazy. I just asked ChapGPT to write an apology to my wife for buying a guitar. It turned out quite well... Subject: Apology for Buying a Guitar Dear [Name], I hope you're doing well. I wanted to take a moment to apologize for purchasing the guitar. I realize it may have come as a surprise o...

I'm going to assume though if there is actually something wrong with it, they wouldn't insist the customer pay return shipping Correct. They consider that warranty, which requires calling them and their determination "could include return shipping." I suppose some of their warranty soluti...

Re: Acoustic Trigger Pulled in a Different Direction
I had no idea that PRS made acoustics I did a few factory tours in the 2000's and they started their USA (core) acoustic line around 2000. In a nutshell, they came up with a proprietary design which consistently sounded very great and looked like art. But their price point was as high as what is co...

FYI:
Harley Benton finally got back to me regarding their return policy. 30 day-money back, no reasons required but the guitar has to be in pristine 'unplayed' condition, and the buyer pays for return shipping.

Acoustic Trigger Pulled in a Different Direction
Many thanks to tonebender , toomanycats , tobijohn and others who chimed in while I was mulling over a Harley Benton SLD-41E WN. It appeared to be a great value and the only thing holding me back was Thomann getting back to me with their policy on returns if the customer doesn't like it and the 15.7...

"I assumed the bridge anchors/posts were SAE. Nope. M5. Is that right?" Take the post to a Home Depot or Lowes and use the thread finder to find the right answer. M5 has a universal standard thread pitch and SAE unfortunately can have two or three. If it is M5, it is likely that the hardw...

Re: Buddha's mod projects
Agile 3100 Silverburst Looks sharp! From the neck pickup specs, the sound is probably sweet and balanced? Thank you If I actually planned ahead and was not flying by the seat of my pants when I mod these I probably would've preferred the neck to cosmetically match the bridge but oh well. Yes, prett...

Re: Buddha's mod projects
Agile 3100 Silverburst Got this from guitar Center used back in 2020 for 250ish. It was pretty dirty and the nickel hardware was tarnished. I swapped out the hardware to chrome. I didn't want all my silverbursts to be just like Adam Jones guitar so I added a beauty ring to the bridge pickup and wen...

They should follow the model used by Long and Mcquade here in Canada: they are the Canadian distributors for many of the brands they sell. Also, they are a real estate company: they generally own the buildings their stores are in, and lease the rest of the space. And most of their people are long-t...

Re: I've got too many strats. Should I make one into a Coodercaster? Or something more like Ariel Posen?
These are actually Jazzmaster pickups according to this interview (previous section covers this), but I happen to have some noiselss P90s that were prototypes based on JM pickups. @andrewsrea what's your thoughts? It's probably pretty easy to do something like Ariel's setup. A Coodercaster probably...
