Not mine:

Seems worth it, even with random P90s.

Re: Peskypesky's GAS thread of the day

Nice. I’ll see your hollow body guitar and raise you a P Bass, sortof. I’ve never been excited about any Schecters before, and generally no non-Fender Fender Shaped Objects, but this looks like a 51 mixed with a 58 with the headstock of a Starcaster

Heck of an argument against tone wood affecting electric guitars

Maybe it’s confirmation bias, but this seems pretty definitive to me.

I have a recent set, too. It’s my second set from Tim, and they have both been perfect.

Brice HXB2-405 3/4

Putting my short scale oceanburst 5 up on Reverb. Open to reasonable offers. I like the bass a lot, but I usually reach for my Stringray when I want active bass tones. More pics on Reverb listing.

The only Brices I remember seeing were basses, but I do remember an Agile bass or two.

Nice grab, @Friedl ! Don´t forget to post pics after PU upgrade. Thanks man. Excuse the weird pic, we’re in the middle of moving, and it’s about the best light I have. My wife reminded me that buying a guitar right before a long distance move seems like an odd choice, lol. 068AEFEA-F201-4344-9B52-B...

Oh yeah, I forgot that these were called AD, not AL. Definitely better in person: 40876C3D-8F07-4849-8A98-829069D74E4F.jpeg The pots are toast. I could clean them, but there’s something wrong with the neck tone control. The neck pup just sounds bad. It’s like it’s low output, but still mud at the sa...

Haha, IIRC, blue guitars aren’t always well regarded by some folks here. Thanks for the response, and yeah, I’ll probably replace most of those components. I’m just wondering about the pups, but I’ll know soon enough.

Old headstock AL2500 DC

I just found a blue AL2500 double cut with the old headstock nearby at a good (great by today’s standards) price. I plan to go get it this morning. The page I found for these has some vague wording about ceramic magnet humbuckers having a strong magnetic field, lol. Anyone know if the pickups are ok...

Re: Thinking About Putting a Pickguard on My Jaco Tribute Fretless

Do you have rounds or flats on yours? Coincidentally, I put the same cobalt flats on mine. First time I’ve used them. They are bright for flats, but not as bright as D’Adario Chrome Flats, which are my favorite. These are cool, but have that “rough” or “grippy” feeling that is can’t quite put my fi...

Re: Thinking About Putting a Pickguard on My Jaco Tribute Fretless

Did you put a finish on the fingerboard? Or are you going with bare Rosewood? I rubbed Old English dark touch up oil on it after radius-sanding it. It’s fine. I wanted a basic fretless P for home use, and it worked out well for a $70 pawn shop bass, but I’d probably be less content with it if I had...

I have the head version. I swapped the 12ax7 out for a Sylvania, I think. The el84 is still stock. Sounds great into a 2x12.

It’s does pretty well in the sunlight, too. I don’t really have to tell anyone about what an 81/85 set sounds like in an LP, but it sounds exactly like I wanted it to. It’ll probably spent most of its time wearing 12s and fairly fuzzed out in drop C, but with volume and tone around 8, it cleans up v...

Re: Thinking About Putting a Pickguard on My Jaco Tribute Fretless

This time I did it the right way instead of my way... Came out a lot better. :) Any tips? I used a soldering iron to heat the frets, started them using a razor blade, moved to a putty knife to lift an end, then lifted them out with pliers. The chips aren’t too bad, but I definitely need to saw the ...

Re: Bought a Stratosphere husk and started building

I bought without hardware because I wanted the black Tonepros stuff. My local GC had the new satin wine red one for about $300 more than I’m at all in, and I would have sold the tradbuckers to recoup a little cost. I made out slightly - not enough if you like the stock trad pro v build and wouldn’t ...

I’m running a Shure SM57 mic into a Behringer UMC202 and using Reaper and Addictive Drums with a few other VSTs. It’s amazing what you can do with a small budget these days.
