Re: NGD! Gibson Custom 1959 ES-355 Reissue

With my little oompa loompa arms I have to stick with the 339s, but those 335s are the real deal. Absolutely gorgeous guitar. HNGD!

Re: Just Picked up a New (to me) Katana 50

Killer snag dude, I've always wanted to get one of those just to fiddle around on. And I think the photo looks proper, it's like that amp belongs in there on its merry way to crank some tasty jams out somewhere. Congrats on the new amp, hope she treats you like a fine wine. It's definitely easier t...

It's honestly ridiculous that I have a 50w amp, let alone the 100w Katana that I already had, because I always play at a very low volume. Nobody needs to hear me very loud.

Just Picked up a New (to me) Katana 50

Fella I work with was getting rid of a Katana 50 MK2 that he just didn't need. He had bought it mainly to use as a monitor and wasn't happy with it. So, for $100 it's now sitting at my house. Probably had less than an hour of playtime on it. A bit different than my old Katana 100w MK1 with the conce...

Re: My furlough just became permanent

I was laid off a month ago as well. I was working 6.5 hours away from home and would drive home most weekends for a day, then drive back. So in a way it’s a blessing. I was working at a faculty that builds parts and pieces for the military. Management walks up to you with security and escorts you o...

Re: My furlough just became permanent

That's great news, glad to hear you found something close. I'm super fortunate to work about 2 miles from home, so I'm betting once you get past the whole "Wait, I have to get up and go somewhere? Why?" stage, it will be pretty sweet. Hardest thing thus far is remembering what day of the ...

Re: My furlough just became permanent

Great to hear from you here again JB and congrats on the new gig. Having been through that ringer myself last year I understand the frustrations, but looks like it all worked out best in the end for you. Nice running into you over on FB too the other day! Agreed. Re: My furlough just became permanent

An update. Well, all crappy things, as well as good things comes to an end it seems. After a year and change I've landed another design job. Unbelievably it's local. My geographic location is not really a deep well of opportunity for graphic designers. I just finished up my first full week of work a...

Re: UFO's: Believer or sceptic

My pet alien theory is that they've established a quarantine of sorts around our solar system. As long as we don't gain advanced space travel, they'll leave us alone...if we do, and we start looking like we're going to spread, they exterminate us, thus eliminating the viral threat that is humanity ...

Re: UFO's: Believer or sceptic

I believe that given the size of the universe, that it would be supreme arrogance on our part to think that we're all there is. That's a lot of wasted real estate, if so. Have they visited us? Who knows? The distances involved seem insurmountable with our limited understanding of the universe. They ...

Holy crap. This was a return? It's gorgeous! And if it plays as nicely as you say, then their mistake is your good fortune. Absolutely beautiful top and the back ain't bad, either. Glad it went to someone who could put it to good use.

My wife passed away, I had cancer, and the Covid flu-thing all hit at the same time. I would certainly like to forget this year. That's terrible, man. I'm sorry you're having to go through those awful trials in addition to this crappy year. Makes my little woes seem insubstantial and silly. Hope yo...

Re: Guitar Center Prepares for Possible Bankruptcy

I don't live in an area with a large enough population to support a Guitar Center, so they've never been a factor in my life. We've got nothing but Mom and Pops and pawn shops around here and they're not the Norman Rockwells that people tend to believe they are/were. They price gouge the shit out of...

I'm still not over Petty. Can't really even contemplate losing Eddie yet.

DLR should have been flogged for that shit show. He had a couple of good years but those were long in the past. Shame Eddie couldn't have had a better frontman for his last outing.

Re: Beirut’s Big Boom

As I type this the "official" death toll is 135. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the numbers hit 4 digits as they comb through the debris. That explosion was unreal. Maybe I'm wrong, the only saving grace would be that it was in a port area rather than a residential area. But I've heard ...

I was watching the footage (I believe there was a smaller explosion due to the fire in the warehouse with the confiscated explosives) and you could see the little green flickers in the fire that (I think) were fireworks going off in the warehouse and I was thinking, "What a terrible explosion t...

Dang, man. Hope you’re up and feeling better soon. Seemed like all of my in-laws got pneumonia last year. My FIL got it twice! But he didn’t layer it up with COVID-19. Take care of yourself and I’m really glad you didn’t wind up with a “ventilator” case. Just found out last night that there’s a very...
