Re: Whats on your work bench?
Whoops, misread your post, sorry. The Explorer and V have that configuration. Here's a diagram from Guitar Electronics: Done! I moved the two volume pots to the same spot they are on Les Paul’s, converted the other pot to a master tone and moved it to the furthest back hole, and moved the kill swit...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?
Interesting weekend for gear. I got a new 68 PRRI (it was on sale and I’ve been looking for one for a while and no good local used opportunities have popped up) and traded my Fender Elite HSS Shawbucker for a Taylor 324. Just got the latter about a half hour ago and have only spent maybe an hour on ...

Okay good that’s pretty much how I figured it, should be easy enough whenever my motivation overcomes my inherent laziness. Thanks!tobijohn wrote:Whoops, misread your post, sorry. The Explorer and V have that configuration. Here's a diagram from Guitar Electronics:

Re: Whats on your work bench?
Put a tiny little kill switch in the Zach Myer PRS SE. For the moment it just replaced the bridge tone but I think I want to i move it to the bridge volume (PRE) spot and modify the neck tone to be a master tone and either put it where the button is now and maybe move the bridge volume to the Gibso...

Re: NGD: Vola JZ FRO
Follow-up: I've barely touched any of my strats (mia standard, elite) or strat-alikes (prs silver sky, g&l s500) since I got this guitar and have used it in a couple of jams so far. For now at least it's my #1. It sounds great and feels better. The relative lack of versatility (master tone, mast...

Re: NGD: Firefly FFSP Buckhead (standard scale)
Buckhead is the Chinese knock-off of Buckethead. Oops. I used to work in Buckhead, I'm up in Alpharetta. To follow up on this one after a little more time: The biggest issue with it is that the pickup volumes aren't balanced, the bridge is much quieter than the neck. Not so quiet that it's unusable,...

Very cool guitar. I am a divorced dad with custody of 4 kids, two of whom (19 daughter and 12 son) are autistic and minimally verbal. Really appreciate you and everyone who voluntarily tries to help kids like them and families like mine.

Re: NGD: Firefly FFSP Buckhead (standard scale)
I should say, too, I had two Firefly guitars previously and sold them both, the 335 clone and the thinline tele clone, both purchased probably back in like 2018 or so. Those were nice guitars for the price too but they have honestly stepped up their game in the interim, imo.

NGD: Firefly FFSP Buckhead (standard scale)
I got this and the Vola at pretty much the same time. I've also been quite curious about killswitches for a while, but never owned or really even played anything with one. I poked around on the Firefly direct sales site (GuitarsGarden.com) and they had this thing in stock, as well as the baritone ve...

I traded away my Squier CV Jazzmaster (and got the Squier Paranormal 12 string Jazzmaster) a while back. I knew from owning it about six or eight months or whatever that I wasn't really going to play it much even though it was a cool guitar. it felt and sounded good, but it wasn't really different e...

Yeah looks like it expired. I have a pretty random selection of 9s, these, and 10s on electrics. I do like these though.

EB Slinky 9.5 3-packs for $7 on Amazon
If you're like me and like the 9.5-44 gauge EB slinkys as something slightly beefier than 9's but slightly bendier than 10's they're still on sale on Amazon for $7 per 3-pack. I got three 3-packs so I should be set for a while. link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B69ZQZHD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?
traded a little iso cabinet i wasn't using for this boss dd-500. i *just* finally broke down and got a bucket brigade delay, the mxr carbon copy, like a week ago (and an mxr tremolo which got me stereo-curious). image.png i'm a pretty lazy person though and this thing is pretty complicated so i dunn...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?
voodoorat: I've always wondered about it's usefulness for a bass guitar. It's what it was designed for, right? After a little reading I found some posts that said the 50 watts wasn't great for pushing a lot of low end. I did some experimentation; I think it actually sounds pretty...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?
Wasn’t looking for it but came up in local market and my buddy was getting an EB Sterling Ray34 from the guy and it was proved to move. I have other Fender amps but not any like this. It feels like a gigantic champ to me but with a lot of clean (if mid-scooped) headroom. Really liking it so far but...

Re: Marshall Origins
I've never owned a Marshall but there's an Origins 20W head w/ 112 cab for sale nearby that I've been eyeing. I'm not much of a solderer--I can do guitar wiring and maybe fix a bad connection on an instrument cable but that's pretty inexact compared to anything required for like PCB. Would I be able...

have gotten a couple of things recently. got a jhs notaklon. so far i like it although i'm not sure what combination of overdrives i want to keep on the board yet. basically the relevant part of the board is a jhs milkman (boost/slapback delay), a boss sd1, a mxr sugar drive (fat sugar enclosure), a...

Re: Whats on your work bench?
this nashville tuning is amazing. I came up with several new good sounding song ideas in first day just due to the unique inspiration of the tuning. Its Jethro Tull-ish, it gets smooth folk/jazz-ish, country. Its not just the higher pitch tuning, its got a "step" in pitch that exists betw...
