Re: Odd Rondo interaction

The 8+ string guitars are for a metal niche. There are not a lot of people buying them, but there are also not a lot of companies selling them, unlike cheap Chinese LP clones these days. When the Agile LP was at its peak, there were not many other options in the price range, and less if you wanted c...

Those guys are pros, and could have played the set on just about anything! I love the nod to ZZ Top by getting matching guitars! :D

Re: New GC direction

Why would ANYONE buy guitars, amps and pedals from GC? I agree with what you're saying, but to play Devil's advocate, let me justify some recent purchases from Guitar Denter: * Guitar cords . Initially I got some because I needed them right now. But then I realized that by buying Guitar Denter's ho...

With that guy in charge they should be bankrupt in no time. 2-3 years max. The higher end customer (I am thinking $1.5k to $4K) is looking at guitars on Sweetwater, picking out the specific wood grain and weight, and buying knowing that no one but the Sweetwater employees who inspected, photographed...

I posted this pic in the new gear thread but it belongs here as well. A quick pick of my 3 AD-3200'S with their new straps. The one in the middle is No Prisoners Rebellion which I have owned for a while but it is moving from the guitar on the left. The 2TS quilt is getting the new End Times #2 and t...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?

Last night I received a package from the snowy North that included a bunch of new straps. I have a pair of Orange Frame JBL D-120F's that are on their way to Upland for a recone, and I have a Mu-Tron clone due to arrive Thursday. Pictures to be posted in the near future! Here are the AD-3200's lined...

Re: Freakin' , 40th wedding anniversay, and no plan.. I am in touble!

Its not too late to line up a divorce lawyer! My approach would be a nice dinner and a "gift certificate" for a vacation of her choosing to be enjoyed within the next 12 months. After 40 years you don't have to hit the exact day, 6-12 months is rounding error, so go where you want when it ...

Re: THE SCHISM OF BEING A GIBSON PROPONENT

So why not charge what the market will bear? If people are willing to pay, I am sure Gibson is willing to let them. Because they have all but completely lost the under 40 market, and nearly the under 55 market as well. They have traded the future of the brand for short term profits. You can put a p...

Oh, it could be worth more AFTER physical inspection, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a "find out what is in it" surprise.

Re: Tube Amp Pro Tip: Ridding the Reverb Recovery Hum

The input jacks should be grounded to the chassis, or floated with a cap and diodes. The rest of the circuit should go to the bus with the "return" flow back to the rectifier going away from the inputs. Of course electrons actually flow in the other direction, but the idea is to have the i...

Re: Tube Amp Pro Tip: Ridding the Reverb Recovery Hum

Using the chassis as a ground conductor was a mistake/shortcut used by most amp builders. Ideally, all the circuit grounds, including all jacks and pots should go to a circuit ground bus (or star) that only connects to the chassis shield ground in a single place, right at the beginning of the power ...

Hmmmm. Still seems weird that the output goes up when pulled. I would have wired it the opposite. If I keep the push pulls, I might use them to change tone cap values or maybe do something crazy like turn on and off an onboard buffer.

Re: AD-3200 B stock

Update on the 3200... I took the day off of work "to get things done around the house" which means after my wife left I plugged the new guitar into a 1967 Super Reverb, cranked up to a modest distortion (v6, t6, m10, b0, reverb 2.7 ish) and let her rip for all the neighborhood to enjoy! Co...

Re: End of an era, no more SX in US.

Seems one can boil it all down to the advance payment requirement. The MOC and import costs are also huge. MOC's are how Gibson, Marshall, Fender and others really killed the mom and pop retail stores. The local shop I got my first guitar from almost 40 years ago is still in business and I talk to ...

Re: WELCOME TO GIBSON-VILLE

Claremont is the town Rondo moved to when they left NJ. I assume the sign is a tribute to Agile guitars. As for the lefty headstock, I don't think it adds much if any cost to have both these days. Just flip the CAD drawing so you have left and right versions to feed the CNC machine. Are there lefty ...

Yep, and most of those are $600 and up with only the B stocks dropping below $500.
