Re: Stew Mac: build your own Princeton Kit
Man, they included everything! Still, for $1,300 I'd lean towards buying a fender model off the shelf. But I don't think that they're marketing to me (no skilz). $1300 is a bit much for a Princeton kit. I would think you can still get good quality parts to build one for under $1000. If hardwired is...

Re: New GC direction
Yes, there are definitely musicians with well paying full time jobs who gig with some pretty expensive gear. I don't know that there are enough of them to keep Guitar Center in business, or how many of them would even buy from Guitar Center.

Re: Whoa ! 1958 Trans Red Les Paul All Original !
Whatever it was, they should have used that finish instead of the burst! Could you imagine all the tone snobs arguing about how nitro kills your tone and that the only good finish is whatever poly stuff Gibson used!

Re: Whoa ! 1958 Trans Red Les Paul All Original !
I wonder what they used for that finish since the red didn't fade like on the bursts, and it doesn't look like aged nitro either. Unless the thing was kept in storage out of sunlight for all these years, perhaps it wasn't nitro.

Re: Robben Ford / Pedal Show w/Dumble
I've definitely been tempted to by the Red Knob Showman on FB Marketplace I showed you a few months ago. They're not budging on price though. I just found out an amp I bid on 6 months ago sold for just over half of what I offered the guy. Seller was both stupid and delusional, and then I guess too ...

Re: Robben Ford / Pedal Show w/Dumble
One of the times I saw Robben live, he was playing a red knob Twin! I honestly thought the sound that night was as good or better than the Dumble. There are so many pieces to the equation and the player is such a big one, that I think it is easy to think that a specific guitar or amp has "magic...

Re: Robben Ford / Pedal Show w/Dumble
Got to watch it and it was a good video. IMHO, the takeaway was player 'feel' in the room. Like @Tonray's Ghost said, after YouTube processing, it sounded like a nice Fender BF when clean and like you stomped on a Big Muff Ram's Head with the gain at 10 o'clock when overdriven. Yep, there really is...

I like Robben, but I really do NOT like that amp. My favorite Robben stuff has all been another amp or something acoustic.

The odd 2500 combos were generally only available for a brief period. I would guess that a lot of them were just a handful in a single batch.

You can use my photos for whatever deviant activities you have in mind. My daughter is not home yet, so nothing to share yet, and I think I may need a Burntwood or two!

Re: Most Unusual Agile LP I've EVER Seen
I think TMC is correct. The LP was initially going to be all maple but it weighed a ton. I am not sure if that was Les' preference or Gibson's. I don't think Les had very much influence on the guitar the bore his name.

Re: Most Unusual Agile LP I've EVER Seen
I don't think the 2500 in the first post was a custom order. The 2500 series had a number of unusual combinations sold in small numbers.

Re: Odd Rondo interaction
The 8+ string guitars are for a metal niche. There are not a lot of people buying them, but there are also not a lot of companies selling them, unlike cheap Chinese LP clones these days. When the Agile LP was at its peak, there were not many other options in the price range, and less if you wanted c...

Re: New GC direction
Why would ANYONE buy guitars, amps and pedals from GC? I agree with what you're saying, but to play Devil's advocate, let me justify some recent purchases from Guitar Denter: * Guitar cords . Initially I got some because I needed them right now. But then I realized that by buying Guitar Denter's ho...

With that guy in charge they should be bankrupt in no time. 2-3 years max. The higher end customer (I am thinking $1.5k to $4K) is looking at guitars on Sweetwater, picking out the specific wood grain and weight, and buying knowing that no one but the Sweetwater employees who inspected, photographed...

I posted this pic in the new gear thread but it belongs here as well. A quick pick of my 3 AD-3200'S with their new straps. The one in the middle is No Prisoners Rebellion which I have owned for a while but it is moving from the guitar on the left. The 2TS quilt is getting the new End Times #2 and t...

Last night I received a package from the snowy North that included a bunch of new straps. I have a pair of Orange Frame JBL D-120F's that are on their way to Upland for a recone, and I have a Mu-Tron clone due to arrive Thursday. Pictures to be posted in the near future! Here are the AD-3200's lined...

Its not too late to line up a divorce lawyer! My approach would be a nice dinner and a "gift certificate" for a vacation of her choosing to be enjoyed within the next 12 months. After 40 years you don't have to hit the exact day, 6-12 months is rounding error, so go where you want when it ...

Re: THE SCHISM OF BEING A GIBSON PROPONENT
So why not charge what the market will bear? If people are willing to pay, I am sure Gibson is willing to let them. Because they have all but completely lost the under 40 market, and nearly the under 55 market as well. They have traded the future of the brand for short term profits. You can put a p...

Oh, it could be worth more AFTER physical inspection, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a "find out what is in it" surprise.

It could be a nice find for $100, but not much more than that post butchering.
