Re: Surgery Tonight

I’m home now, but still on iv antibiotics for a few weeks. It’s a giant PIA. I can walk with a cane, but it isn’t easy or comfortable. Still, not so long ago a joint infection like this was a death sentence, so I’ll just take my lumps and get through. The worst part is that I’ve had absolutely no ly...

Still in the hospital. Hopefully, I’ll be discharged tomorrow. What a drag. 4-6 weeks of treatment at home too. Gah!

Re: Chasm

Hmmmmm, that’s an interesting question nomadh . You mean mechanically, or imaginatively? The short versions are: Imaginatively, some theme or melody or string of words gets in my melon and won’t let go, and usually, once I start chasing it down it doesn’t run away from me very quickly…. Unless I sto...

Surgery Tonight

Hey boys… I’m in for an emergency surgery tonight to clear an infection in my arthritic right knee, so I may be dark for a bit. I’m in pre-op right now.

Re: Blue on Black (Cover/Jam)

This song is very hard to sing and play at the same time for me.... good job on this. Sometimes you just gotta exorcise the demons to get a song out of your head.

Re: TRAYNOR YCV40-WR

Well, toomanycats did you get the amp or what? Your post inspired me to fire up my amp for the first time in quite a while, and I fell in love with it agin! Channel 2 (clean) with and without some dirt in front is just so sweeet. This amp has to be on the 50 Watt setting (not 15W) to sound good on t...

Re: TRAYNOR YCV40-WR

I've got a Traynor YCS50 and it does EVERYTHING I need it to do. Tryanor's are Canadian, and pretty much every Canadian guitarist has had one at some point. They are available 'round here for obscenely low prices and really can't be beat. In fact I got mine for $400 CAD. It's crazy. Congrats on the ...

I know I like this one, because I was singing nonsense over it right away.

Now, if I could sing like Dickinson, Ronnie James Nomadh and I could knock it outta the park!

Re: Standard Deviation

Thanks @nomadh! I do write a lot of lyrics. I like words and the way they go together... sometimes even when they don't make sense (Judas Priest, anybody?).

I have no idea how to make money on something like that... wait for Darius Rucker to rip me off, then sue him?

Re: Standard Deviation

Sorry for the delay responding, boys... life interference.

@toomanycats , I used the Valhalla Supermassive plugin on the lead vocal, which is an interesting delay/reverb hybrid. I also double tracked all the way through.

Thanks @Rollin Hand!

Re: My English Test results (Listening-Reading)

To be fair the French have issue understanding or recognizing quebecois too My ex father-in-law, who lived in Quebec, once traveled to Paris. He went to a restaurant for breakfast one morning and ordered "pain grille", but the waiter had no idea what he meant, so he told the server it was...

Re: My English Test results (Listening-Reading)

I encounter the same issues with French. I can understand the politicians and other formal speakers for the most part, but when I cross that line into La Belle Province (Quebec), the slang and colloquialisms leave me asking everyone to slow down so I can keep up.

Favourite Lesser Known Songs

I have several favourite songs by well-known artists that are definitely not their most well known songs. I also like their more widely known songs, but these are some of my absolute favourites: Ophelia by the Band - killer arrangement, Levon's vocals just crushing it, and a fantastic horn section! ...
