Re: Chinese Company Buys Marshall For $1 BILLION!
"A quarter of the Marshall Group's sales come from headphones while 70% is derived from speakers and 5% come from amplifiers, according to de Maillard." My LLM grabbed that from a Billboard article. The point is that Marshall has gone from being an amp brand to basically an audio brand. Th...

It has a tone control. That would seem like a simple solution but it doesn't quite compensate for how a buffer affects the tone and feel.

@Rollin Hand 2 doesn't really work with a buffer. I've tried at least rolling off the volume pot. This guitar already has 250K.

Strat with a buffer circuit is too bright for my tastes. I guess I like high end loss. What could I do to compensate?
I've come to realize that one of the things that bother me about guitars with active circuits (i.e., not just EMGs or Fishmans but anything that buffers the signal with no high-end loss) is how they have no high end loss. I think it's why I didn't like Suhr's S styles the first time I tried them. I ...

Re: NAD - Enter...Stage Right
andrewsrea I bought one of his Reason amps used. I asked for a badge (mine was gone) and a few NOS tubes (the bambino amp uses mini tubes). I think it's Obeid Khan. Edit: people around here who know him do pronounce it like "Oh-Bed". "Hi my name is Obeid Khan, welcome to the site. Th...

Re: Incoming NGD - Koa/Ash Kiesel Vader!
Nice, I picked up a (edit: Kiesel) headless multi scale in trade for a McCarty I picked up cheaply plus some cash. I guess I have about $1K into it and it's only got one small ding. It's a very nice guitar, maybe wider of a radius than I would ever chose, but the multi scale turns out to be a lot of...

Re: Noiseless single coils
I'd tend to agree that Wilde makes the best inexpensive noiseless pickups. I haven't tried every set, but the ones I've tried can be a bit hi fidelity for some. Use an EQ and you can get it down into more traditional single coil tones. I'd stuggle to recall which ones I've used.

Re: How do they stay in buisness?
My nearest L&M has the store, a yoga studio, a bridal boutique and a kids' play place in the same spot. I am betting any profits for the store are pure profit because the rents from their tenants could cover the monthly nut. I mean... if they'd make more money renting the space than they do by ...

That's the Bridgeton GC. They used to have more knowledgeable employees but they were primarily assholes. Yes, the setups they do at that shop are terrible. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Suhr/Modern-Custom-Solid-Body-Electric-Guitar.gc My favorite is the Suhr that I believe costs more than it wo...

I have a pair of noiseless P90s based on Jazzmaster pickups. I agree that the footprint is different and that changes the tone a bit, but it doesn't stop you from getting in the general ballpark.

https://youtu.be/lcZ71bUXHCs?si=brteHNo_MDVmz-2S&t=804 These are actually Jazzmaster pickups according to this interview (previous section covers this), but I happen to have some noiselss P90s that were prototypes based on JM pickups. andrewsrea what's your thoughts? It's probably pretty easy to...

My wife's Filipina, and I've spent significant time in the Philippines. But, we don't eat street food much, and her family is out in the provinces of La Union, so it's probably not much like PoodlesAgain is seeing. If I spend about $30 I can feed a large family with the food here: https://www.youtub...

I don't know anything about it, I just love the vibe. I can't even tell if Bob's actually playing in videos. If he is playing, it's lost in the mix.

I'm using AI quite heavily for my work. It's going to change the work done in tech, but unless it becomes truly sentient, we're still going to need humans. Maybe fewer humans...
Re: Fuchs ODH
It seems he's got Jazz Fusion people playing it in these two demos @andrewsrea. Which isn't to say it's bad, but it's not really a style I listen to or enjoy all that much.
Fuchs ODH
I think andrewsrea was talking about experimenting with solid state power amps with a tube pre-amp when I saw him last? I haven't been sleeping much to my daughter being 3 weeks old, so maybe I heard wrong. What I did mention ws that Fuchs released their ODH recently that basically makes a Dumble OD...

Re: MV50 Clean + bc108 cab is on sale
Just sold the BC108 (cab) and bought a second one from Vox. I'm not going to say it's the best amp ever; it's just that everything I've tried that is equal or better is considerably more expensive. I'll likely try to set the speaker again after getting this one.

"sound like I'm rich but they're at stupidly cheap prices where I can sell instantly for what I paid kind of deals." I've never said that to my wife, but I've implied it many times. When she said I had 13 guitars just downstairs, I sold some. Think I'm back up over 10 again. Add 25 upstai...

Re: Update: AD3200 $400! 2 gone!
@sabasgr68 I'm tempted but I bought a Les Paul Supreme this week for about what Standards usually go for and I'm probably getting a deal on a Custom 22 10 top. Which probably makes me sound like I'm rich but they're at stupidly cheap prices where I can sell instantly for what I paid kind of deals.

Re: In Pod we trust
Andrewsrea is correct, but frankly, I bought a Helix LT that I recognized had an issue that they were known to fix for free if you filed a claim, regardless of whether you were the original owner. At the time, it was a 200 cheaper than the low end for what these go for, so it seemed worth the effort.
