Re: This Must Be The Greatest CRATE Amp Ever Made!
I love a great deal! And I love the 2 of mine - Palomino V16 (like the V15 above, just in summer uniform) and the V32. I think I like the 2-channel 30-watt model better - cleans are lovely.

I agree, I also hate soldering. One of the most annoying and irritating chores to me. Now, how do we remember that when ordering pickups and components?

Re: What''s cooking...?
Don't be shy, our grill gets to about steady 520°F and LP gets to about 550°F, so HOT is good. If I were relegated to a cooktop, I'd use cast iron with a lid. Sticking has never been a problem, like maybe it gets too hot to stick? I think you'll enjoy. It's not that it's "too hot to stick"...

Re: How well do you know the notes on the fretboard?
I do not have much ear and to the extent that I can hear something it just seems to be very slow and has come with just practice and playing. I know some people who play who sound good but they have no idea what chords they are playing, how chords are constructed, major scale, etc. but they are lig...

Re: Knife Porn?
My new nakiri arrived the other day! I haven't actually used it yet, because, y'know, it's too nice to actually use ... nakiri.jpg So true! That's why I have a bunch of decent inexpensive knives for general use and nobody is allowed to touch my one good Damascus steel knife (not as nice as yours). ...

Re: What''s cooking...?
So I found a bag of lentils in the basement and decided to google a recipe yesterday, ended up finding an Alton Brown recipe for a somewhat middle-eastern style soup. That led to googling for some kind of indian flatbread to go with the soup and I found a Naan recipe. Having no clay oven, i decided...

Re: NAD! Fender Got This One Right!
Sounds like you got the one. Congrats and enjoy I love it when things work out :) Yeah, I thought I was taking a step backwards with this amp, and I went into this whole thing with a negative bias towards "practice" bass amps to begin with. When I was growing up, a "proper" bass...

Re: update: Guitar Center Files for Chapter 11
Yup @Gear_Junky and I think a lot of people wonder why they kept on opening more stores with so much debt while not being profitable. Unfortunately, guitars aren't quite as profitable and addictive as coffee. Don't tell @tobijohn . Actually under some types of bankruptcy it's normal to not only con...

Re: update: Guitar Center Files for Chapter 11
@Gear_Junky chapter 11 made the most sense. It's possible some stores could be closed, but GC is still alive and kicking for now. Yep and store closures can happen without any bankruptcy or even financial troubles - i.e. if locations aren't profitable. Just look at Starbucks that used to have multi...

Re: update: Guitar Center Files for Chapter 11
Saw a mention on a financial/investment news aggregator about this, filed Saturday, I think. Chapter 11. Which is reorganization. "The Plan is intended to allow Guitar Center and its related brands (including Music & Arts, Musician’s Friend, Woodwind Brasswind and AVDG) to continue to opera...

Just ate a big pan of homegrown potatoes, boiled a bit and then fried in a huge pan. Added it to onions already cooked down, some garlic, homegrown cherry tomatoes..a good amount of bacon..then cheesed it out with a lot of cheddar, jack, and parmesan. Also stirred in horseradish before the final ch...

I'm simple and old-fashioned. If it has to boot, it can freeze. That "please restart your amp" pic is golden, would make an awesome avatar if it was readable. To me that sounds HILARIOUS. I'm not laughing at your frustration, Mossman. In fact, I recently got an acoustic amp. Digital FX are...

Its a cool builtin. Similar concept to the tonewood add on. Not sure if the tonewood has the looper. I like that idea alot. I think it was yamaha that has something like this also. I believe it only had reverb and chorus but it sure can give you a big tone. I may be getting some sort of add on like...

I started covering my video cameras 20 years ago and people made fun of me. At work they gave us "gifts" of little tiny sticker that has a brand logo of the latest server they installed and it's a little sliding door that covers the laptop camera - you can open it when needed and close wh...

I always want to know: when the batteries leak out, do they leak acid or alkali. I'm a geek like that. But as long as it doesn't have its own IP address, I'm ok with that. And as long as the next step is not implantable throat effects for vocalists, if I see that, I'm out. Imagine how cool this woul...

... it's getting cool enough again for roasts , stews and soups. Yes, I would say THOSE are my favorite things to make. I always chuckle when friends praise me for a roast and I always tell them that it was the oven that made it. There's nothing to it. What is your favorite stew and soup? Ok, that'...

Cabbage is safe to eat whether fresh/raw, fermented or cooked. Proper kraut is not cooked as Mickey stated. Canned stuff is cooked due to the way canning works (and non-reactive can lining exists). Jars are probably pasteurized, otherwise they'd need to be refrigerated (and could bulge). You can alw...

P.S. I also bake bread at home, have been since the casedemic started. Most times it's just a basic white loaf based on my breadmaker's "french" recipe, so I let the machine knead and rise the dough but then I take it out and bake in the oven, it tastes better this way. I do use my sourdou...

keilbasa+sauerkraut+potatoes+cardamon seeds. Great topic! I definitely love cooking and baking (mainly because I like eating and you can't buy them like you make them). I don't use a slow cooker usually, no need while the oven works, but I've grown to like sauerkraut with kielbasa, even though the ...

I've haggled with them twice, after ordering online. One was new (my bullet tele), the other was used (my vm jazzmaster). I got a sizable chunk back each time. It took several reps, going up the chain of command and being firm (but always polite, no need to be adversarial). I explained to them that...
