Re: Buddha's mod projects

Jay Turser Rosewood Tele The control cavity was a pita so I did have to sand a little to accommodate full size pots and the US style 3 way was making contact at the bottom so I had to drill that out. 20231111_005728.jpg20231111_005738.jpg My SX Furrian has the same control cavity issue. I started t...

Ever notice that the SX headstock resembles a bird??

It never occurred to me how much the SX headstock looks like a bird head. At least the one pictured below (I realize there are other SX head shapes). Perhaps a tie-in with the “Hawk” model…?

Re: What Makes Up Your Current Gig Rig?

Maaaaan....that's a complicated question. You can read below for my detailed answer. But honestly, I roll the dice often; switching between amps, guitars, pedals, and supporting accessories. It's a point of pride for me that whatever gear I take, it works and gets the job done. Not because of luck, ...

Re: Recommend me a tuner pedal

+1 for Polytune I have a few cheap Donner tuners. They work, but their performance tends to make me have to fiddle more to land in tune. Spending $90-ish for a good one is worth it. On the topic of tuning: I’ve recently been setting up my guitars so that they are in tune (or as close a compromise as...

Re: Agile Guitars in The Wild...

We had a great gig last night. This is a band that I have been friends with for a few years, occasionally sitting in on lead guitar during their weekly rehearsal/hang sessions. They asked me to join on bass when the previous bassist moved. I never really played bass before, but it’s been fun! And I ...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?

Maybe not the most exciting gear acquisition ever, but I finally got a proper footswitch for my Orange. I'd been using a generic footswitch with no light, which was a pain because I couldn't look down and tell which channel I was in. Then this popped up on CL for a fair price and only about 15 minu...

Re: How do you do it? (Clean/dirt)

Fun question! I play guitar and bass in a band. I showed up to rehearsal one night with no guitar amp. The guy who plays bass when I play lead has a Marshall Origin 50 (through a 2x12 cab) that he runs a bunc of pedals into for his tonal variety. I plugged straight into his amp, cranked the gain, br...

It’s caught my attention when used around me.

I say it’s partly ego and partly just simple communication. It’s up to the person hearing it to determine the ratio of ego:ease.

Re: Pink Floyd Sound Check

Thanks for sharing this. I’m the designated guitarist in my band for lead duties on Pink Floyd songs. I typically play bass in this band, so it’s nice to break out the 6-string for a handful of songs (including PF). I think bar bands tend to overlook PF. When we play Comfortably Numb and Another Bri...

NAD Orange Rockerverb 50 Combo (Neo)

Several years ago I was out to see a local cover band. At one point I was ear level, unobstructed and about 12 feet away from the guitarist’s rig. It was an Orange Rockerverb 50 head through a Mesa 4x12 cab. It was simply the best tone I’ve ever heard. It slayed all the classic rock hits (my fav mus...

Wait. You missed the "Dealer Added Mark-up" rip-off? A salesman played us that tune stating that it was a tax that took vehicle scarcity into consideration. We took our business elsewhere. We were dismayed when most local dealers were adding huge markups (we were shopping for an Explorer ...

1. Thanks for the review. I do have a Tele Deluxe and STILL struggle to not buy one of these SX or Hadean variants.

2. Good call on the GFS upgrade. In my opinion, it’s either Buddhas or GFS.

Agile: 1, Picture Frame: 0 (or, Don’t Try This With Your Gibson)

I returned home from being out and was promptly informed that the cat had a confession for me. Turns out she was acting a fool and jumped onto the mantle sending a framed picture (and ultimately herself) hurtling to the floor. Standing in the path of the pic was my Agile AL-3100MCC. Per my fiancée, ...

Re: Whats on your work bench?

I had to put the SX bass under the knife today. Tim wound a set of Buddha Pickups for it. Upon installation I realized I had a little issue to resolve. The SX stock pups had a ceramic bar magnet below the bobbin that gave each pup a 3/16” lift. I tried putting some pieces of foam inside to compensat...

Re: GC LOL

I live in an area with several GCs a short drive away. Three of them have some major scarcity of certain categories. I went into one to get a Fender Rumble 800 that I knew in advance was there. I got it, but would have loved to a/b it against some competition. Sadly they had like 7 total bass amps i...

I was indeed the lucky one to get the sole specimen of this SX model on the Rondo site. My fiancée took my subtle hint and ordered it…even arrived on my birthday! Hopefully for all it’s a prototype of an upcoming offering. This bass is GORGEOUS!! The one piece body is light weight and contoured very...

I found myself in a similar situation this week. In the never-ending quest for good tone it occurred to me that I have never fully bonded with the three amp heads I have. Re: Just got hired as a bass player

I’m in a similar position. I occasionally have sat in playing lead guitar for a friend’s band (at their weekly hangout/rehearsal sessions). The bass player moved out of state and they asked if I could help out. Mostly on bass but also on guitar. Honestly, the most logical solution would have been to...
